Despite his season being cut short by devastating ACL and LCL tears, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t lost his trademark generosity. Just days after undergoing knee surgery, Mahomes surprised his teammates with special Christmas gifts, and they were as thoughtful as they could get.
Patrick Mahomes Surprises Teammates With Christmas Gifts After Knee Surgery
Even while recovering from ACL surgery, Mahomes made sure his teammates felt appreciated this holiday season. According to multiple Instagram stories from Chiefs players, Mahomes gifted skill-position teammates PlayStation 5 consoles with protective, portable cases.
“The 🐐 @patrickmahomes. appreciate it,” wrote Hollywood Brown, expressing his gratitude.

Second-year receiver Xavier Worthy, running back Brashard Smith, rookie wideout Jalen Royals, and backup tight end Jared Wiley were among the other recipients. Travis Kelce and Rashee Rice likely received similar gifts, given Mahomes’ focus on skill-position players.
For the offensive line, Mahomes selected thoughtful gifts such as watches, luggage carriers, and e-bikes. From protecting him in the trenches to catching his passes, Mahomes clearly ensures everyone around him feels valued.
Despite his generosity, Mahomes remains sidelined for the rest of the season. Kansas City has been eliminated from playoff contention for the first time in over a decade. The Chiefs’ remaining games are against the Titans, Broncos, and Raiders, with Gardner Minshew II set to take over under center.
When Will Mahomes Return?
Tearing any knee ligament is always a primary injury diagnosis. Mahomes tore two of them last week against the Chargers and is expected to serve an extended absence for the Chiefs. The legendary quarterback could reportedly be in danger of missing the start of next season with a lengthy recovery process ahead of him.
NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that Mahomes opted to immediately undergo surgery on Monday night, just one day after the game. He also provided a potential recovery timeline, which could impact his availability for next year.
“Typical recovery for an injury like this is about nine months, which would be about Sept. 15th, putting Patrick Mahomes up against the start of the 2026 season,” explained Schefter.
The recovery timeline remained the same after the surgery, with Schefter adding it would be a surprise if he’s not ready for the opening day of the 2026 season.
Before the injury, Mahomes was having another stellar season, throwing for 3,587 yards and 22 touchdowns while rushing for 422 yards and five touchdowns. He currently ranks 15th in PFSN’s QB Impact metric, with an impact score of 77.
