5 Transfer Portal Landing Spots for Former Cincinnati QB Brendan Sorsby

Brendan Sorsby is entering the transfer portal after a breakout season, weighing a return to college football or the NFL Draft.

Cincinnati redshirt junior quarterback Brendan Sorsby plans to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after two seasons with the Bearcats, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound signal-caller transferred to Cincinnati after spending two years at Indiana, where he appeared in 11 games for the Hoosiers.

Sorsby has started for the Bearcats the past two seasons and broke out in 2025, completing 62% of his passes for 2,800 yards, 27 touchdowns, and just five interceptions over 12 games. He helped Cincinnati exceed expectations and stay in the Big 12, and remain in the CFP mix deep into the year. With one year of eligibility left, he’s also considering entering the NFL Draft.

Indiana Hoosiers

A return to Bloomington would represent a full-circle moment for Sorsby, who began his college career at Indiana. With Fernando Mendoza likely heading to the NFL after a historic season, the Hoosiers could once again turn to the transfer portal for their next quarterback.

Mendoza posted a PFSN QB Impact Grade of 93.2, the second-best mark in the country, and became Indiana’s first-ever Heisman Trophy winner. That development under head coach Curt Cignetti could be appealing to Sorsby, who may see a similar path to maximizing his potential before making the jump to the NFL.

Penn State Nittany Lions

New head coach Matt Campbell may prioritize a veteran presence to lead his first Penn State team. After a lackluster recruiting cycle, Campbell could look to the portal to jumpstart a transition period in Happy Valley.

Sorsby’s potential arrival would generate immediate intrigue among the fan base. Campbell has a proven track record as a program builder, and a move to the Big Ten would give Sorsby a chance to prove himself against a higher level of weekly competition.

LSU Tigers

Until LSU secures its next long-term quarterback, the Tigers will remain linked to nearly every high-profile transfer. With Garrett Nussmeier out of eligibility and Lane Kiffin now in Baton Rouge, a portal addition feels inevitable.

Kiffin’s reputation as a transfer-portal maestro from his time at Ole Miss and his pass-heavy offensive philosophy could be a major draw. In Oxford, Kiffin guided an offense with an 85.3 team impact grade (13th nationally) and finished fourth in the country in passing yards at 3,715. That system could entice Sorsby as a chance to boost his production and NFL stock in the SEC.

Oregon Ducks

Oregon’s situation hinges on the decision of current quarterback Dante Moore. The Ducks are preparing for a CFP run, and if Moore plays his way into the NFL Draft, where he is currently ranked fourth overall and the No. 1 quarterback on the PFSN Big Board, Oregon could be in the market for a proven veteran.

If that door opens, Sorsby would be a strong fit in Dan Lanning’s system. Oregon’s offensive infrastructure and national spotlight could provide an ideal stage for a one-year audition before the NFL.

Florida Gators

With DJ Lagway also expected to enter the transfer portal, Florida could be searching for its next starting quarterback. New head coach Jon Sumrall will need a stabilizing presence as he begins rebuilding the Gators’ program.

Sorsby, who posted a PFSN QB Grade of 88.2, 10th best in the nation, could be that answer. His experience, production, and leadership would give Florida a chance to remain competitive while laying the foundation for the future.
