Brady Cook’s journey to his first career start in the NFL had plenty of challenges, but the incredible moment the New York Jets quarterback had in the game will be hard to forget for him and his family. Facing the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Cook helped his team find momentum early by throwing a touchdown pass, and his parents’ reaction made the moment even more heartwarming.
Brady Cook’s Parents’ Reaction to His First TD Stole the Spotlight
During the Week 15 game against the Jaguars, Cook led New York on an impressive opening-quarter drive, marching the offense 65 yards on eight plays. The rookie QB ended the drive with a TD pass to Adonai Mitchell, giving the Jets a much-needed spark.
As soon as the touchdown happened, the camera turned to the stands at EverBank Stadium, where Cook’s parents were seen celebrating with visible emotion and pride.
They were clearly thrilled by their son’s first career touchdown pass and hugged each other in the moment. It was such a wholesome scene that CBS also shared it on X, writing, “Amy and Jim Cook watching their son Brady throw his first career TD ❤️As good as it gets.”

It was truly a special moment for Cook and his family. He started the game confidently, completing six straight passes before throwing an interception and later connecting on a TD pass.
While the Jets’ season hasn’t been great, moments like these give fans something to cheer about. The moment feels even more significant when considering Cook’s journey to earning the starting job.
Cook’s Journey to Jets Starting Quarterback
Cook earned the starting opportunity after injuries sidelined Tyrod Taylor and Justin Fields. He entered the game last Sunday after Taylor exited against Miami and finished 14 of 30 for 163 yards with two interceptions.

This week, he made his first NFL start and became the Jets’ first undrafted free agent quarterback to start since 1973. He showed consistent performances during his college career at Missouri, where in 46 games he totaled 9,103 passing yards, 49 touchdowns, and only 15 interceptions.
The Jets are going through a rough season. They entered Week 15 with a 3-10 record and are already out of the playoff race. However, the team will be looking to treat their fans to a few wins in the remaining weeks.
Now, as the rookie QB has command of the Jets offense that is currently one of the worst in the league, ranking No. 29 in PFSN’s Offense Impact, it will be interesting to see if Cook can continue to make his parents proud like he did on Sunday and help the Jets climb in the rankings.
