The Philadelphia Eagles are proof that winning the Super Bowl back-to-back seasons isn’t as easy as fans think. While the Eagles did have some significant personnel changes on defense, the majority of their offense remained intact, yet they are not playing like the 2024 squad.
Fortunately for the Eagles, the rest of the NFC East isn’t very good. This has allowed them to remain on top despite heading into Week 15 at 8-5, when they would host the Las Vegas Raiders. However, a massive error by tight end Dallas Goedert drew a strong reaction from head coach Nick Sirianni.
What Did Eagles TE Dallas Goedert Do That Frustrated HC Nick Sirianni?
Despite some of their struggles, the Eagles were manhandling the Raiders throughout the first half of the game. Just a minute into the fourth quarter, Philadelphia leads Las Vegas 0-31.
However, what has gotten the most attention is an unusual dropped ball by Goedert. Selected by the Eagles in the second round in 2018, Goedert has been a steady contributor.
The 2025 season seemed to be shaping up to be one of the best of his career. Through the first 12 games of the season, Geodert has 48 catches for 481 yards and a career high seven touchdowns.
In the game against the Raiders, he has so far added another six receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. However, it’s the one that got away that got the most attention.

In a video posted to X by Fox Sports: NFL Goedert can be seen dropping a short pass to the endzone from quarterback Jalen Hurts.
“Nick Sirianni reacts after this drop by Goedert. The Eagles settled for a FG on this drive,” wrote Fox Sports in the post.
Shortly after the start of the second quarter, Hurts can be seen throwing a quick dart to Goedert from the Raiders ‘ four-yard line, but the tight end isn’t able to hang on to it as the ball bounces off his hands.

Sirianni can be seen hanging his head in aggravation, while Goedert looks to his teammates and pats himself on the chest to signal, “that one’s on me.”
According to PFSN’s TE Impact metric, Goedert is ranked 20th in the league with a grade of C+ and a score of 77.8. That’s similar to Philly’s offense as a whole, which is ranked 19th, with a grade of C- and a score of 72.5.
