The fantasy playoffs are underway. If you thought there wouldn’t be chaos, you’d be wrong. Managers didn’t even have to wait for the first games on Sunday to kick off for some controversy. Bears WR Rome Odunze was declared active and ready to play until he wasn’t. He was ruled out shortly before the kickoff and many managers couldn’t adjust their lineups.
Fantasy Managers Infuriated by Rome Odunze’s Absence
It’s hard to blame Odunze for not being able to play after aggravating his injury with the playoffs looming. But fantasy managers can’t be available at every waking moment to set their lineups with last minute changes after Odunze had already been ruled active. Fans were not happy with the Bears, though.
“I left Rome Odunze in my lineup, and 7 min before the game, I guess he’s ruled out. This is ridiculous lol. What’s the point of the hour before?” said one fantasy manager.

“Odunze ruled out 4 minutes before kickoff of the fantasy playoffs is the most diabolical beat I can remember,” added another fan.

This could be very costly for managers. Obviously, there’s not enough time to pivot. Playing down a key receiver is not going to bode well and will likely cost people money.
What a wild start to the fantasy playoffs. First, we had Kyle Pitts drop 40. Now, we have the Bears inexplicably think Odunze’s broken foot would heal in a week.

The sequence of events was likely irreversible for some unfortunate managers. With Odunze not ruled out until five minutes before kickoff, a lot of people out there will be taking a zero in the first round of the fantasy playoffs, leading to plenty of outrage on social media.
“Rome Odunze screwing over fantasy managers right before kickoff,” said one manager.

“WTF DO YOU MEAN ROME ODUNZE HURT HIS FOOT DURING WARM UPS & NOW HAS TO SIT THE GAME OUT. I AM SICKKKK,” said one fan.

Odunze ranks 37th in PFSN’s WR Impact score with a grade of 76.5. He’s a big piece of many lineups, and managers are left in shock to not have their guy for their biggest fantasy matchup of the season, so far, even calling for special treatment.
“Fantasy commissioners should allow managers to replace Odunze since this happened before kickoff,” said one fantasy analyst.

This won’t be happening, and Odunze managers are going to have to overcome the odds. Someone is going to have to step up and play for two players. If you have Drake Maye, you might be in business after a phenomenal start to the first quarter with two touchdowns already.
