What Is the Latest on Christian McCaffrey’s Injury?

As per the report from NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, McCaffrey was put on the team’s injury report with a bad back. Rapoport wrote, “The #49ers added RB Christian McCaffrey (back) to the injury report and he is questionable Sunday vs the #Titans.”

According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, McCaffrey has an impact score of 82.9 and grades out to a B-.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter also reported on McCaffrey’s condition, noting that the running back is listed as questionable. However, Schefter additionally reported that McCaffrey should be “good to go” on Sunday.

McCaffrey has played in 13 games for San Francisco this season, carrying the ball 237 times for 849 yards and eight touchdowns. As a receiving option for Purdy and backup quarterback Mac Jones, McCaffrey has 85 receptions for 808 yards and five touchdown catches.

Since the 49ers traded for McCaffrey from the Carolina Panthers, he has proven to be a solid addition to head coach Kyle Shanahan’s offensive schemes. He remains a tough runner to bring down when headed downfield. When McCaffrey gets open for a reception, he also shows a knack for adding up yards after the catch.

Where Do the 49ers Stand in the Playoff Race?

Entering Sunday’s game against the 2-11 Titans and No. 1 overall 2025 NFL Draft pick Cam Ward, the 49ers are 9-4. San Francisco sits one game behind the co-leading Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks in the NFL West, who are both 10-3 overall.

In the NFC standings going into Sunday’s home game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., the 49ers are sixth. The Rams hold the No. 1 spot in the conference, followed by the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles.

San Francisco has won four of its past five games and will look to stay hot against a Titans team that is simply playing out the string. McCaffrey’s most recent 100-yard rushing game came on Nov. 2, when he totaled 106 yards on 28 carries and scored one touchdown. He will look to replicate that type of output in front of the home fans on Sunday.
