Where Do Boise State and Washington Stand Heading Into Tonight’s Game?

Boise State secured its third straight Mountain West Conference title last Friday, beating UNLV 38-21. The Broncos wrapped up the season at 9-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference, checking in at No. 65 in the PFSN College Football Playoff Meter.

Ahead of the LA Bowl, head coach Spencer Danielson has expressed respect and caution when discussing Washington, particularly head coach Jedd Fisch and quarterback Demond Williams Jr.

“Coach Fisch has done a phenomenal job with their team, and obviously, Washington has been really good for a long time,” Danielson said in the lead-up to the LA Bowl. “Coach (Jedd) Fisch is a phenomenal football coach in all three phases. They’re going to be ready to rock.

“They have probably one of the best offensive weapons in the country in their quarterback. He (Williams) is electric. Getting him on the ground when he scrambles is a task that not many can do, and he can make every throw.”

Washington ended the regular season with a 26-14 loss to Oregon on Nov. 29, which snapped its brief two-game winning streak. The Huskies head into the LA Bowl with an 8-4 overall record and a 5-4 mark in Big Ten play, ranked No. 20 in the PFSN CFB Meter.

Fisch’s name resurfaced in coaching rumors following Sherrone Moore’s firing at Michigan. However, the Washington head coach has emphasized that his full focus remains on preparing for the challenging game against Boise State.

Washington holds a 4-2 edge in the series. Today’s game marks the seventh meeting between the programs and their third bowl matchup. Boise State edged Washington 28-26 in the 2012 Las Vegas Bowl, while the Huskies responded with a 38-7 win in their 2019 bowl meeting.

As for player availability, both teams are expected to have nearly their entire rosters available for today’s game.
