The Dallas Cowboys suffered a big scare in their Week 14 game against the Detroit Lions. In the third quarter, star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb went down hard when trying to catch a pass from Dak Prescott and left the game with a concussion.
Luckily, the Cowboys played on Thursday, so they have a few extra days between games to allow Lamb to recover. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer provided a positive update regarding Lamb on Monday.
Brian Schottenheimer Sounds Optimistic Regarding CeeDee Lamb Injury
Before the injury, Lamb had been having a huge game. The receiver ended with six catches for 121 yards, but the team struggled without him and ultimately lost 44-30.
Lamb has been one of the league’s better receivers this season, so losing him for any amount of time would be a considerable loss. Fortunately, Schottenheimer seems optimistic.
The first-year head coach said on Monday that Lamb is “doing good,” and “progressing nicely.” This was after another positive update the coach provided last week.
“Lamb had a good day. But he has to go through all the checks and balances of all that stuff. I do think the extra couple of days should hopefully help him,” the coach said of Lamb last Friday.

For what it’s worth, Lamb has suffered three concussions in his career and has never missed more than one game. Players will frequently miss one week with a concussion, but Lamb will have 10 days instead of seven between games, which could only help.
The Cowboys are set to face off against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football in Week 15.
CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens Have Been Elite for the Cowboys in 2025
The Cowboys have arguably the best wide receiver duo in the league in 2025.
Lamb has played in 10 games and has 57 catches for 865 yards and three touchdowns. PFSN’s WR Impact ranking gives Lamb an 82.3 grade for his performance so far.

George Pickens, meanwhile, in his first season with the team, has been even better. Pickens has 78 catches for 1,179 yards and eight touchdowns. PFSN’s WR Impact ranking gives Pickens a 93.1 grade, which is behind only Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Puka Nacua.
When Lamb got injured last weekend, though, Pickens was unable to pick up the slack. The former Steeler had one of his worst games of the season, finishing with five catches for just 37 yards.
If Lamb has to miss Week 15, Pickens will once again be heavily relied upon. The Cowboys need to pick up a win to remain alive in the crowded NFC playoff picture.
