After suffering a 15–33 defeat to the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football, the New York Giants enter their Week 14 bye. Giants quarterback Russell Wilson, who hasn’t been getting much work on the field, picked up a side gig during the break, and his teammate has now announced he’ll be doing the same, just on a competing platform.
Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston to Appear on Rival Broadcasts
Wilson is one of the most experienced quarterbacks in the NFL. The 14-year veteran spent 10 memorable seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, two years with the Denver Broncos, and one with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Giants.
He has more than 200 regular-season starts and was part of Seattle’s famous 2013 campaign that ended with a dominant 43–8 win over the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48. But this season has been far less memorable for him.
After opening the year with three straight losses, Wilson lost his starting job to Jaxson Dart. And even when Dart was ruled out against the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers in Weeks 11 and 12, it was Jameis Winston who stepped in as the starter. Winston also led the team to consecutive losses in those games.
Wilson was recently announced as a guest analyst on “The NFL Today” as part of CBS Sports’ Week 14 coverage. He’ll appear on both NFL Today+ and the pregame show. It didn’t take long for Winston to follow his teammate’s move, except he signed on with a rival network.

After a short appearance with FOX Sports during the Super Bowl in February, Winston is returning as a guest on NFL Sunday. It seems the two QBs will be competing off the field during their bye week.
Wilson and Winston Trying Their Hands at What Lies Ahead
Both Wilson and Winston are in their 30s and currently serve as backup quarterbacks. Like many players nearing the later stages of their careers, broadcasting may be a natural next step. Testing the waters now is a smart move for both, especially for Wilson, whose playing career appears to be nearing its end.
Wilson, who began the year as the starter, is now listed as QB3. Winston, who started the season as QB3 himself, got the chance to lead in two games, going 37 of 65 for 567 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
But with Dart (currently ranked No. 16 on PFSN’s QB Impact) now healthy again, Winston will likely return to the bench for the Week 15 matchup against the Washington Commanders. The Giants will enter the field with a 2–11 record and no playoff hopes. However, they can still enjoy crushing the Commanders’ negligible postseason chances if Washington enters Week 15 after defeating the Vikings.
