What Concerning Update Did the Expert Give About CeeDee Lamb’s Injury?

Lamb was the most productive offensive player for the Cowboys in their TNF showdown with the Lions, totaling six receptions for 121 yards. His night was ended early in the third quarter when he attempted to make an acrobatic touchdown catch, which resulted in his head bouncing off the ground.

The superstar was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game after being diagnosed with a concussion. An expert on head injuries, Chris Nowinski, Ph.D, recently shared that he has much bigger concerns with this specific type of concussion than simply a short-term absence from the football field.

“CeeDee Lamb suffered an ugly brain injury on this play. Note Tua-like fingers, an unsettling version of the fencing response, which reveals injury to brainstem nuclei. Sad fact: brainstem damage can increase the risk of mental health & psychiatric disorders,” explained Nowinski.

Any type of brain injury is to be taken seriously, but Lamb’s was apparently a significant one that could have lasting effects. The expert referenced Tua Tagovailoa, who missed extended time due to concussions, as a point of reference in this situation. The Cowboys may choose to be as cautious as possible with this situation when considering his long-term outlook both on and off the field.

When it comes to the football side of the injury, his early exit played a significant role in the Cowboys’ failed comeback attempt against the Lions. His 121 yards came in just over a half of the game as the defense showed no apparent answers for covering him. He already set a season-high in single-game yardage during the contest and appeared on his way to much more before the concussion.

The Cowboys star has been having another impressive season, as he has in every year with the franchise. He currently ranks 15th among all wide receivers on PFSN’s Impact Rankings, despite sharing the workload with George Pickens, who ranks third on the same list. They represent arguably the best receiving tandem in the entire NFL this season, but the recent injury update suggests that an additional absence is surely possible.
