Is Patriots’ QB Drake Maye In the NFL MVP Conversation?

What type of Monday night did Maye have? He was 24-of-31 passing for 282 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. Maye finished the game with a QB rating of 126.0 against the Giants.

For Maye, a second-year quarterback who has found his touch under Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, his numbers are NFL MVP worthy right now.

In looking at his season numbers so far, Maye could be challenging Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, the reigning NFL MVP, for winning that title this season.

According to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, Maye has an impact score of 88.1 and grades out at a B+. Entering Monday night’s game, Maye had thrown for 3,130 yards and six interceptions. With his two TD passes against the Giants, Maye now has 23 scoring passes for this season.

But Maye has some competition in the race for a possible MVP crown. Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, despite a rocky game on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers, is still among the favorites. Don’t forget about Allen, along with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

Stafford, according to the PFSN NFL QB Impact metrics, has an impact score of 81.0 and grades out to a B-. Stafford has thrown 32 TD passes this season against just four interceptions.

What about Allen? He has an impact score of 90.0 and grades out to a B+. Allen has 19 touchdown passes while he’s thrown 10 interceptions. Of course, Allen is also a run threat. He has 409 rushing yards and 11 rushing TDs this season as well.

Maye and Stafford are in a tight race for the NFL MVP honors, but Allen, Prescott, and Love will have a say in the race as the 2025 NFL regular season winds down.
