American star Danielle Collins has recently shared her thoughts on the differences between dating elite women and men tennis players on tour and how understanding an individual has to be while dating a player, due to the high demands of their respective careers.
The World No. 64 was last seen in action at the 2025 US Open, where she reached the semifinal round in mixed doubles with Christian Harrison. In the singles category, she had lost to Jaqueline Cristian in the first round.
Danielle Collins Reveals Dating Difference With Players on Tour With Hosts of “Nothing Major Show”
During her recent appearance on the “Nothing Major Show” episode, Collins revealed that there is a dating difference for successful men and women players on tour, as male players have wider options as compared to female players.
Apart from this, she also shed light on the fact that men are daunted and tend to drift away from successful female players and that an individual who is dating an athlete must have a profound understanding and make adjustments, as the athletes have to focus primarily on their careers.
She mentioned, “I feel like it’s different for men and women. I feel like when you’re successful as a guy you’re dating the amount of people that kind of flock to you, it’s like infinite, right? You have a lot more options when you’re successful as a guy. But I feel like as a woman, when you start to become more successful, it kind of narrows down the dating pool by a lot.”
She continued, “I feel like men can kind of be like intimidated sometimes by successful chicks. I don’t know why that is, but I feel like that’s definitely valid. For me and a lot of my friends.”
The winner of four WTA singles titles and one doubles title further added, “I think it takes a special person to want to date a professional tennis player, male or female, just because we travel so much and our lives revolve around our careers.”
Collins emphasized that individuals who date players must understand their schedules, pressures, demands, and other aspects of their lives. She said, “So you really have to be with someone that’s pretty selfless in that way and understanding that we have a short window to kind of accomplish what we want to accomplish. It takes a really big sacrifice from the people that any of us date.”
Through their podcast, ATP stars John Isner, Sam Querrey, Steve Johnson, and Jack Sock had earlier revealed that they are assisting Collins in finding a suitable partner. In an episode of “The Gay Tennis Podcast” that aired last month, Collins admitted that she is single and is looking for a partner after her split from boyfriend Bryan Kipp. Through the “Nothing Major Show” podcast episode, Collins revealed that she is currently in a relationship.
