Rashee Rice Injury Update: What’s the Latest on the Chiefs WR, and Will He Play in Week 13?

Rashee Rice should be fit to bolster the Kansas City Chiefs against the Dallas Cowboys after significant progress in his injury recovery.

The Kansas City Chiefs snapped a losing streak by defeating the Indianapolis Colts 23-20 at Arrowhead Stadium. Still, fans remained apprehensive. The team’s below-par performance during the final stretch of the regular season caused concern.

Rashee Rice was a key player on the field, turning in one of his best performances of the season, but a hamstring injury has cast doubt on his participation in Week 13’s Thanksgiving showdown against the Dallas Cowboys.

What’s the Latest on Rashee Rice’s Injury Update?

According to the latest update (via NBC Sports), Rice is expected to practice on Tuesday after participating in limited activities on Monday. Depending on his progress over the next few days, the wide receiver may be available to take the field on Thursday.

Rice (who currently ranks 5th in the PFSN WR Impact with a B grade) played a major role in the victory over the Colts with five catches and 132 yards in the second half. This confirmed once again that he is one of the most decisive players on the current Chiefs roster. The injury occurred during the fourth quarter, when the WR fell after making one of the game’s biggest plays with 47 yards gained.

It is worth remembering that even though he was feeling discomfort on Sunday, Rice stayed on the field. He was unable to hide the fact that he was in pain for the rest of the game. Nevertheless, he still contributed with a 21-yard reception in overtime. This was the decisive play that put the Chiefs in position to kick the winning field goal.

Many fans were concerned about the WR’s condition after he felt pain against the Colts, but his participation in a limited practice on Monday suggests that his hamstring injury is not severe and that he could recover quickly for Thursday’s game.

Rice delivered his best outing of the season on Sunday, hauling in eight catches for 141 yards on a season-high 12 targets. Over the five games since his return, he has reminded Kansas City — and Patrick Mahomes in particular — just how much his absence during the suspension affected the offense.

But even with Rice trending in the right direction, the Chiefs are still juggling a handful of injury concerns. Linebacker Leo Chenal (knee) and wideout Xavier Worthy (ankle) were both limited, while right guard Trey Smith (ankle) missed Monday’s work and isn’t expected to suit up on Thanksgiving. Tight end Noah Gray (concussion) is also unlikely to be available.
