Jameis Winston may have looked shaky in his season debut against the Green Bay Packers in Week 11, but the New York Giants’ quarterback delivered an explosive performance against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
After uncorking a deep bomb earlier in the game, Winston delivered one of the most unexpected highlights of the NFL season, hauling in a touchdown as a receiver.

Winston hasn’t been a consistent starter since his Tampa Bay Buccaneers days, but he has always delivered unforgettable moments. Spectacular, chaotic, and entertaining, he embodies the kind of NFL theater fans adore, with some even calling him a national treasure now.
“Jameis is a national treasure and we must protect him. That was amazing,” wrote one fan.

Week 11 marked Winston’s first action of 2025 after rookie Jaxson Dart was sidelined with a concussion. Despite throwing an interception and taking two sacks, Winston still posted a QBi score of 80.3 (B-), ranking as the 22nd best outing of his 90 qualified career games.
Sunday’s performance, however, might be his most electric in years. Fans didn’t stop the praise, with some even jokingly pushing for awards and even higher office, “I’ve seen enough. Jameis Winston MVP,” wrote one fan. “Play of the century,” another fan wrote. “JAMEIS WINSTON FOR PRESIDENT,” Joked another.
If there’s one certainty in football, it’s this: when Jameis Winston takes the field, something unforgettable is bound to happen. As of this writing, Winston had completed 15 of 29 passes for 343 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, plus his remarkable 33-yard touchdown reception that set social media on fire.
