Saints Receive Crushing Injury News Just Before Falcons Game

One of the aspects this season that the New Orleans Saints needed on their side all year was health. Week 12 is a tough one.

One of the aspects this season that the New Orleans Saints needed on their side all year was health. Although, for the most part, it has not been horrible, over the past two weeks, their bad luck has reared its ugly head.

Saints Get Bad News for One of Their Most Important Players

For the entire week, eyes were focused on one leading player on the Saints’ injury reports each day, and that was offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga. Two weeks ago, against the Carolina Panthers, Fuaga was out with an ankle injury. Although it showed during the game, the Saints were able to overcome it because the Panthers struggled to generate a pass rush.

If Fuaga were going to be out against the Atlanta Falcons, it would be a different story, and before today’s game, the star tackle did end up on the inactive list.

Rookie QB Tyler Shough was able to deal with pressure well last game, but New Orleans should never rely on that. Again, against the Panthers, it was doable, but Atlanta has a dangerous pass rush that can easily disrupt an offensive game plan. The good news is that the Saints have rookie Kelvin Banks Jr. on the left side, who is ranked 15th in PFSN’s Player OL Impact Metric, to cover that part of the line. At RT, it’s going to be a worry all game.

Other Saints Injury Updates

Also, like last week, RB Alvin Kamara was on the injury report, but he is active for today’s game. This is extremely important for the Saints’ run game against the Falcons, and although rookie RB Devin Neal has played well in his short usage, Kamara was needed for more consistency. Also, with Fuaga out of this game, New Orleans must rely on the run game a bit more to make Atlanta’s defensive line stay aware of a potential run.

Besides Fuaga, five other players are ruled out of today’s game: S Ugo Amadi, DTs Khristian Boyd and John Ridgeway III, CB Rejzon Wright, and RB Audric Estime.
