Why Did DeSean Jackson Weigh In on the A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts Situation?

Brown and Hurts have shared more than just a spot on the Eagles roster. Their friendship goes back years, with Brown even making Hurts the godfather of his daughter. That connection runs deep. However, things have recently become rocky. The cracks started to show when Brown made some blunt comments about the Eagles’ offense during a Twitch stream with JankyRondo, hinting that not everything was perfect on or off the field.

As the chatter grew louder, former Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson jumped into the conversation on his “House of Action” podcast. Jackson suggested there was more happening than play calls and game plans.

He said, “As you can tell, it’s something else going on. And I got a great relationship with [A.J. Brown]. I respect him. I can’t say it. But I know it’s something else going on. It’s not all about football – it’s not all about X’s and O’s. I’ve had situationships with QBs I didn’t necessarily like. And when it ain’t there, it sticks out like a sore thumb. That’s all Imma say.” Jackson made it clear that personal issues between teammates can change everything, and fans are taking note.

Jackson is open about his respect for Brown, but isn’t all-in on how Brown decided to go public with his feelings. On the live stream, Jackson felt Brown let his emotions take over, creating more buzz than maybe he’d hoped:

“I’m a realist and I gotta speak the facts. I feel like he’s brought a lot of attention upon himself. I think he’s a hell of a talent. As a wide receiver, you should want the ball. But when you’re doing these gimmicks or you’re out on social media, you’re on Twitch, you’re saying all this, it brings more attention to you.” Jackson’s experience with rocky relationships between receivers and quarterbacks lends his words even more weight.

Right now, the Eagles offense is holding its own, currently sitting at number 16 on PFSN’s Offense Impact. Still, when two of the biggest names in the unit aren’t seeing eye to eye, it’s impossible to ignore the potential impact.

As the team heads into Week 12 to face division rival Dallas Cowboys on Monday, the tension between Brown and Hurts is on everyone’s mind. Maintaining chemistry will be key for Philadelphia if they want to continue climbing the ranks and secure wins in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.
