When Do Bye Weeks End in the 2025 NFL Season? Complete Schedule

NFL bye weeks serve as a built-in pause during the regular season, giving teams a chance to rest, recover and recalibrate for the final stretch.

NFL bye weeks are a built-in pause during the regular season, giving teams an opportunity to rest, recover, and recalibrate for the final stretch. In 2025, these breaks span from Week 5 through Week 14, offering teams early- and late-season breathers that can influence everything from injury management to playoff momentum.

While some teams benefit from a well-timed midseason pause, others face the challenge of an early Week 5 break that leads to a long, uninterrupted run to the finish line. With no byes in Week 13 because of the league’s busy Thanksgiving slate, the schedule makers have arranged several byes for the franchises.

Below is a complete look at when bye weeks end in 2025, and every team’s designated week off.

2025 NFL Bye Weeks End After Week 14

The final bye weeks of the season will come in Week 14, after which all teams play continuously through Weeks 15-18. From that point forward, the league schedule features a fully active slate as teams compete for playoff spots. With no teams off in Week 13, which coincides with Thanksgiving weekend, the NFL fills the holiday period with an expanded lineup: three Thursday games on Nov. 27, a Friday game on Nov. 28, 11 Sunday games on Nov. 30, and a Monday night game on Dec. 1, according to NBC Sports.

Each team gets one bye week during the 18-week, 17-game regular season. These breaks are strategically placed by NFL schedule makers, who consider broadcast value, travel, stadium availability, rest disparities, and competitive balance. Their goal is to structure the calendar in a way that maximizes fan engagement each week.

Early byes, starting in Week 5, force teams into a 13-game run to close the season. Later byes, such as those in Weeks 12-14, can offer squads a much-needed reset before the playoff push.
