Australian tennis star Alex de Minaur has secured his place in the ATP Finals semifinals in Turin. The Aussie battled past a stern challenge from America’s Taylor Fritz in his final group-stage match and then needed Carlos Alcaraz to defeat Lorenzo Musetti to seal his qualification.
As the Spaniard pulled ahead in the match, De Minaur’s fiancée, WTA star Katie Boulter, playfully confirmed how the Aussie would be reacting to the situation.

De Minaur entered the Jimmy Connors group as one of the favorites, only to be thrust into a difficult position after back-to-back losses to Alcaraz and Musetti. The Aussie was on the brink of elimination, yet by Thursday, he had battled his way back into contention. His gritty performance, aided by a stroke of favorable permutations, kept his campaign alive.
It was a must-win clash for both Fritz and De Minaur, with the victor needing Alcaraz to beat home favorite Musetti later in the evening. De Minaur struck first, breaking for a 3-1 lead. Fritz mounted a push to reach the tiebreak, but the Australian seized control, surging ahead 4-1 with two mini-breaks and closing out the set.
He carried that momentum into the second, breaking to love and racing to a 3-0 advantage. This time, there was no let-up, as De Minaur closed out the set 6-3, keeping his hopes alive.
Meanwhile, Musetti never seemed to trouble Alcaraz, something De Minaur would have hoped for. The Spaniard hit 26 winners to Musetti’s eight and eventually closed out the match 6-4, 6-1 to move into the semifinals undefeated, taking De Minaur with him. With that, Alcaraz also improved his head-to-head against Musetti to 7-1.
During the match, one user even predicted how De Minaur would react when Alcaraz went 15-0 up against Musetti in the opening game. A GIF on X captured the imagined moment, showing the Aussie roaring, “Let’s go!”

“I can confirm,” Boulter replied.
De Minaur, meanwhile, also shared a celebratory post on Instagram as he got through to the semifinals in Turin.
“LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOO! Thanks for the support and the crazy atmosphere these days 🔜 Semis next!,” he captioned his Instagram post.

De Minaur now faces the formidable Jannik Sinner, whose commanding 12-0 head-to-head record against the Aussie makes him an especially daunting obstacle.
