She finished as the runner-up after losing to Elena Rybakina (3-6, 6-7(0)) in the championship match.
Aryna Sabalenka Reveals Future Plans of Having a Baby and Later Making a Comeback
After her campaign in Riyadh, Sabalenka spoke with Alexander Sokolovsky on his podcast. There, she reflected on how, when she was younger, she had envisioned having children by the age of 25 and then coming back to win tournaments.
The world No. 1 stated that, now, at 27 and without children, she has postponed that dream to focus on maximizing her career potential and exploring how far she can go in the sport.
“At 18, I thought by 25 I’d win everything I wanted. At 25, I’d have a baby, come back, and keep winning. 25 came, and I won some stuff, then I thought maybe 27 or 28. Now I’m 27 and I’m like, well, a bit later, yeah, we’ll move it. I realized I want to get the most out of my career, see how far I can go,” Sabalenka said.
Sabalenka mentioned that she has a rough plan to start her own family in the next five years, although it may change. She expressed her love for children and said that they often seem to like her as well, but stated that her career remains her main “priority.”
“So it’s a rough plan with a possible move. I would like to try to start a family in five years and maybe try to come back, depending on what stage I will be in my life, but yes, this is a difficult moment because if I could, I would have gone now. I love children very much, and it seems that children love me, and I would really like to, but now I have a priority,” she added.
This year, Sabalenka won four titles: the 2025 Brisbane International, two WTA 1000 events (the Miami Open and the Madrid Open), and one Grand Slam title, the 2025 US Open. She also finished as the runner-up at the Australian Open and the French Open, and reached the semifinals at Wimbledon.
