Will D’Andre Swift Play in Week 10? Latest on Bears RB’s Injury Status

D'Andre Swift sat out Week 9 with an injury. After three days of practice in Week 10, here's his status leading up to the game against the Giants.

The Chicago Bears played one of the most chaotic games in recent NFL history, pulling out a late victory against the Cincinnati Bengals. After completely crumbling and squandering a two-possession lead in the fourth quarter, the Bears escaped with a win to move to 5-3. They have an opportunity to continue to pressure the top of the NFC North with a win against the Giants.

Chicago will be hoping to get some offensive reinforcements back with D’Andre Swift. Here’s the latest on Swift’s status for Week 10.

What is D’Andre Swift’s Injury Update?

Swift has had an up and down week at practice leading up to Week 10 against the Giants. He missed their Week 9 contest due to a groin injury, and was limited in Wednesday’s practice for the groin issue alongside a personal reason. He participated in full on Thursday, but some cause for concern arose on Friday as he did not participate in practice.

Swift is questionable to play against the Giants. If he cannot play, Kyle Monangai will be the starting halfback for the Bears. Monangai, who started in place of Swift in Week 9, was dominant in his first NFL start.

Monangai ran for 176 yards on 26 carries and added three catches for 22 yards. The Bears should be just fine in the backfield if Swift is unable to play in Week 10.

Swift is the fourth-highest ranked running back in PFSN’s RB Impact score with a grade of 84.6. He only trails James Cook, Jonathan Taylor, and Rico Dowdle, who are all having incredible seasons. Swift will be a huge blow to the Bears offense if he can’t suit up, but they should be able to get past a struggling Giants team without having him in the lineup.

Swift has often dealt with injury struggles throughout his NFL career. The last two seasons have been his healthiest as he didn’t miss a game in 2024 and played in 16 games in 2023. Before that, he had never appeared in more than 14 games in a season and never had more than eight starts in a season. He’s turned a corner and has started in nearly every game he has been available since 2023, and has rarely been out.

The Bears started off hot in 2024, but went on a long losing streak to end their season as it was looking encouraging. This looks like a different unit and they look poised to make a run for a postseason appearance. Fans will be hoping for a comfortable win after the roller coaster of emotions in Week 9, and also they’ll be wanting Swift back out there again.
