The Denver Broncos extended their winning streak to seven games during “Thursday Night Football,” but don’t tell the fans that. Quarterback Bo Nix and the offense were repeatedly booed throughout the game. Nix, though, shrugged off the boos. While the first team to eight wins, the Broncos’ offense has not kept up with the defense. It’s a trend that can get exposed in the playoffs.
Broncos Fans Are Tired of the Slow Offense
Responding to the boos, Nix said, “I’ve been booed before. I’ll be booed again.”
In the game, the Broncos’ offense had a chance to make a statement, but the unit did the opposite. Case in point: the Broncos’ defense totaled five sacks in the first half, while the offense started the game with four straight three-and-outs.
It appeared Nix and Co. were going to turn it around after the fifth drive led to a five-play, 53-yard touchdown in three minutes and 17 seconds. The Broncos started on their 47-yard line as well. So, great field position. And on second and 18, Nix tossed a beautiful pass to rookie wide receiver Pat Bryant. The Broncos’ offense, though, ended up inside the Raiders’ 10-yard line and scored a touchdown two plays later.
That was the only successful drive for the Broncos, and it took five drives. Broncos fans booed because they are tired of the slow offense every week. This week, though, there was no heroic fourth quarter.
That said, there was a chance at consistency late in the first half, but Nix failed to capitalize. With the ball and a minute and 50 seconds left, the Broncos’ offense started with the ball at their 27-yard line. After a clutch 14-yard pass to WR Courtland Sutton on third and 13, Nix folded. Two plays later, there was not another touchdown but an interception into double coverage.

In the third quarter, the Broncos’ offense totaled two more three-and-outs, sandwiched in between an 11-play, 43-yard drive that ended with a missed 59-yard field goal. The drive started on the Broncos’ 16-yard line.
The dagger: Late in the third quarter, with a minute and 29 seconds left, the Broncos’ offense started a drive on the Raiders’ 12-yard line after a blocked punt. The sequence went a negative two-yard play, an incompletion, and a pass for zero yards. The Broncos kicked a gimme field goal to take the lead, but that was the moment the entire stadium knew the Broncos’ offense may be a problem in the playoffs.
After another three-and-out in the fourth quarter, Nix threw a second interception. The Las Vegas Raiders’ offense started on the Broncos’ 45-yard line, but could not capitalize. The former’s kicker missed a 48-yard field goal. Against a better offense, the Broncos lose the game. Although Nix ended the game in victory formation, it was anything but a win for the offense in Week 10. Nix ended the game with a 54.2 passer rating.
The Broncos will do some soul-searching during the mini bye. Nix and Co. play the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 in the first of two matchups.
