Will the Browns Fire Kevin Stefanski? NFL Analyst Shares Truth About Cleveland’s HC

Kevin Stefanski rumored to be in the hot seat and could potentially be fired by Browns amid another disappointing season.

Kevin Stefanski entered the 2025 NFL season with the Cleveland Browns, reportedly under pressure. His first five seasons as their head coach produced a 42-50 overall record and included two playoff appearances.

He has turned in just a 2-6 record through nine weeks this year, so his seat could be getting even hotter. An NFL analyst recently provided an update on his situation and his current standing with the franchise.

Kevin Stefanski’s Future in Jeopardy as Browns Continue to Struggle

NFL analyst Trey Wingo recently appeared on “The Fan” in Cleveland and spoke about where he believes Stefanski stands after the Browns’ 2-6 start to the 2025 season. He gave a prediction for what he thinks the franchise will do with their head coach.

“I do think Stefanski is a good coach, but I do think he’s probably gonna get fired. He’s not a bad coach, but I do think the organization is a house of cards. If you don’t win, you don’t keep your job,” stated Wingo.

His first year as their head coach was a success, marked by an 11-5 regular season record and a playoff advancement to the second round. This was unfortunately his best record in any of his five completed seasons with the Browns. He has also only made one other trip to the postseason. Still, they were eliminated in the Wild Card round.

Last year was the worst of the five with just a 3-14 record, and a 2-6 start to the 2025 season isn’t exactly encouraging that he has things going back in the right direction. The alarming regression makes it understandable why he may be in the hot seat, as well as their struggles at the quarterback position.

The Browns recently traded away Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals and named rookie Dillon Gabriel their starting quarterback. He has been disappointing in this role and ranks just 35th among all quarterbacks in PFSN’s Impact Rankings. This includes a 1-3 record as a starter with just five touchdowns across six appearances this season.

The franchise has been desperate to find a new quarterback and even drafted two of them this year, with Shedeur Sanders joining Gabriel on their roster. Sanders has yet to get into a game this season, but if Gabriel continues to struggle, he may get his opportunity at some point.

It will be interesting to see if Stefanski makes this move amid reports that he is firmly in the hot seat. He may be running out of time to turn things around and potentially save his job with the Browns.
