Former major champion Stan Wawrinka will look to begin his campaign at the 2025 Hellenic Championships as he takes on Botic Van de Zandschulp in the first round. Wawrinka, now a spent force at this stage of his career, has not made it past the second round at any tour-level events this year. The Swiss player has fared slightly better on the Challenger Tour, reaching finals at the Aix-en-Provence Challenger and the Rennes Challenger.
Meanwhile, Van de Zandschulp has also struggled in 2025, faltering in the early rounds of most events he has played. His only two meaningful runs came in Kitzbuhel, where he reached the semifinals, and at Winston-Salem, where he finished runner-up to Marton Fucsovics in the final.
