Ohio State Under Scrutiny After Potential Transfer Portal Tampering Following Penn State Win

Were the Ohio State Buckeyes caught tampering in the wake of their win over Penn State? Fans from both sides certainly seem to think so.

Despite a 38-14 loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes, one Penn State player had a hugely influential game that has put him on notice for college football fans. Despite the Nitanny Lions initially looking like they were in the contest, the Buckeyes managed to pull away courtesy of a standout performance from quarterback Julian Sayain.

Going into today’s game, Ohio State was the No.1 team in the nation at 7-0 and had a 20% chance of retaining its National Championship according to PFSN’s playoff meter. Meanwhile, Penn State is yet to win a game following the decision to fire James Franklin.

Was Ohio State Caught Tampering Following Penn State Win?

Following the game, Chazz Coleman was spotted speaking to a member of the Ohio State staff before walking down the tunnel. According to reports, the freshman is one of the players Penn State wants to retain. The defensive end attended high school in Ohio and visited the university.

“Defensive end Chaz Coleman with a long solo walk off The Shoe after a solid showing. One of the players Penn State wants to retain. Had a word with an Ohio State staff member before he entered the tunnel.” Sports Illustrated’s Chase Fisher shared.

“Tampering.” One Nitanny Lions fan suggested following the incident. Ohio State fans began to pile on, responding with calls for the Buckeyes to steal Penn State’s talent.

According to reports, during his recruitment cycle, Ohio State had a keen interest in Coleman. However, they did not make him an offer. In 12 games in his senior season, Coleman recorded 68 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and five sacks

OSU had interest in Coleman earlier this fall and had also worked him out at a recruiting camp in June. Coleman attended the Buckeyes’ game against Marshall in September. He left Columbus without an offer,” The report read.

Coleman put Ohio State fans on notice today. After a forced fumble was recovered by Coleman on Amare Campbell, the Nitanny Lions made their way down the field in a couple of plays. This forced fumble eventually resulted in a touchdown.

“Must Get for OSU. He needs to come back to the State of Ohio to play.” One fan suggested, with many more sharing the same thought.

According to PFSN’s Edge Impact rankings, Coleman, in his freshman season, is one of the top 300 players in his position in the nation. With an impact score of 70.4, he ranks 224th nationally, with four QB tackles and seven tackles this year.

“Chaz Coleman to Ohio State.” The responses continued to roll in.

“Give this kid a bag and bring him home,” more fans continued to pile the pressure on Ohio State.

Ohio State currently seems the more desirable location. Following their national championship victory, the Buckeyes have continued to thrive. They are currently 8-0 and ranked No. 1 in the country. According to PFSN’s playoff meter, they have a 20% chance of retaining their National Championship.

After the timing of the early-season firing of Franklin, Penn State players are eligible to enter the transfer portal within a 30-day window in January. This ruling came into effect this season, directly around the timing of the former head coach’s departure.
