Alex Ovechkin and Wife Nastasiya Embrace Roman-Warrior Theme for Halloween

Alex Ovechkin and his wife Nastasiya celebrated Halloween in Roman-warrior costumes as the NHL star nears the end of his Capitals contract.

Alex Ovechkin, the Russian NHL star, has been leading the Washington Capitals as captain for over 15 years now. The 40-year-old forward is in the fourth year of his five-year, $47.5 million contract. His deal ends after the 2025-26 season, when he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Ovechkin recently shared that his health will determine when he retires, as he wants to remain active and play with his children. For now, he continues to enjoy every game and the support from fans.

Ovechkin and his wife, Nastasiya Ovechkina, added a creative touch to their Halloween celebration this year. Nastasiya posted a photo on Instagram showing the couple dressed as Roman warriors. They looked confident and happy, sharing a fun moment away from the hockey rink.

The couple has been married since 2016 and has two sons, Sergei and Ilya. They often share family photos online, giving fans a glimpse into their life together. Earlier this year, Nastasiya told aif.ru that Alex plans to play one more NHL season and then return to Moscow with his family.

“Alexander still has a contract for a year,” Ovechkina said. “So we’ll play next season, and then we’ll fly back to Moscow, our homeland, to live. We’ll stay in Russia, yes.”

Alex and Nastasiya first met at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and reconnected years later on Instagram. Their engagement story is memorable — Alex proposed while Nastasiya was washing her hair. She said she was surprised but happy when he appeared with flowers and a ring.

“I was like, ‘What! Do you understand I am just …’ and he didn’t stop, so I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh,’ and I got a towel and opened the door, and he is on one knee with the flowers and with the ring,” Nastya said in 2020, via The Washington Post. “At first when I opened the door I thought I would kill him. Can you imagine you were in the shower and then you need to get out … Oh my God. Why you couldn’t just wait? He said: ‘No, no, no. I wanted to right now.'”

Ovechkin has played 1,500 NHL games, all with the Washington Capitals. He has recorded 899 career goals and holds the record for the most goals in NHL regular-season history. If he scores his 900th goal, he will become the first player to do so in the League, inspiring a generation of players to pursue hockey.
