NFL Trade Deadline Rumors: Broncos Potentially Trade for a Former Pro Bowl WR

The Denver Broncos can combat attrition by swinging a trade before the deadline. ESPN insiders have Denver targeting a former Pro Bowl WR.

The Denver Broncos are one of the surprises of the 2025 season, with a 6-2 record through eight games. They sit atop the AFC West and are the current No. 3 seed in the AFC conference. So, the only thing that looks likely to stop the Broncos is attrition.

That said, Denver can combat that by swinging a trade before the deadline. ESPN insiders have the Broncos targeting a former Pro Bowl WR.

Denver Broncos Are Speculated To Trade for Rashid Shaheed

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano released a long-form article on Wednesday, featuring their latest trade intel. In it, they speculate the Broncos may trade for wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, a former Pro Bowler.

Shaheed has been an integral part of the New Orleans Saints. Although things do not look promising for the team, on an individual level, he is doing his best. He has an impact score of 76.7 in PFSN’s Wide Receiver Impact.

When asked who the most interesting team was heading into the deadline, Fowler said, “Denver also has my attention. The Broncos have evaluated multiple spots, including offensive guard (with Ben Powers out) and the skill positions (either tight end or wide receiver). While I’m not convinced the Broncos will make a bold move, ideally Denver would like more of a classic, field-stretching receiving option to offset the skill sets already in place while also adding veteran experience.”

While Fowler doesn’t list a specific receiver, Graziano added to the former’s answer.

Graziano said, “Maybe Sean Payton can swing a deal with his former team and add (Rashid) Shaheed? Those are the really interesting teams to me, the Broncos, Colts, Patriots, etc.”

He then spoke of how AFC contenders had surpassed expectations this season, stating, “AFC contenders that might be further along than a lot of us expected or realized before the season started. The Chiefs are rounding back into form, the Bills will be there in the end, and the Ravens should be too if they can take advantage of their softer second-half schedule.”

“What will the upstart AFC contenders do to try to keep up with the usual powerhouses? And will it be enough? The Patriots have the cap space to add anyone they want. Is a big splash move coming?”

Elsewhere, the Broncos signed a 19-year veteran to their practice squad. Elsewhere on the trade deadline front, Denver may add depth to its offensive line. We’ll have more on trade deadline moves as news develops.
