The Chicago Bears have a lengthy injury report heading into their Week 9 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bears had seven players who did not practice on Wednesday, which is never ideal for a Sunday game.
One of the significant names to miss practice was running back D’Andre Swift. He is battling a groin injury that held him out of practice, and his status for this weekend’s game remains uncertain.
Is D’Andre Swift Questionable for Week 9?
This is not a new injury for Swift, as he has been dealing with this groin issue for a few weeks. He has missed plenty of practice time this season and still been able to play on Sunday, so for now, his missed practice time should not worry fans.
Swift has been very productive over the last three games despite not being fully healthy. He has 277 rushing yards in those games and is averaging 6.2 yards per carry. Despite splitting time with rookie running back Kyle Monangai, Swift has done a lot when on the field.
According to PFSN, Swift has an RB Impact Score of 87.2, which ranks fourth in the NFLÂ this season. He has been one of the most impactful runners and someone the Bears should consider giving the ball to more often.
#UPDATE: Swift did not practice on Thursday also, which is a big concern for the Bears.
While Swift’s status is “questionable” for Sunday, keep an eye out to see if he can get any proactive time this week. Even if he can practice in a limited capacity, that bodes well for his chances to play on Sunday.
Bears Hoping to Bounce Back After Loss
The Bears started the season 0-2 before ripping off four straight wins and finding themselves in the thick of things in the NFC North and NFC playoff picture. With a chance to extend their win streak to five this past Sunday, the Bears fell flat on their face. They lost 30-16 to a now 2-5 Baltimore Ravens team that was without quarterback Lamar Jackson.
It was a setback for the Bears, as they have many things to correct heading into Week 9. The Ravens had a bad defense, and the Bears only scored 16 points; they need to do much better against another bad defense in the Bengals.
All eyes have been on quarterback Caleb Williams and his recent struggles. He has not thrown a touchdown pass in the last two games, and that will never be good enough in today’s pass-first NFL.
Williams can benefit from a strong run game with Swift and company, but ultimately, it will be on him to show he can win games with his arm.
