For Week 8’s edition of MNF, the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Washington Commanders. And while the Chiefs tallied 14 points in the third quarter, things were tied at the half.
Fans have been quick to blame superstar tight end Travis Kelce. At one point against Washington, he had one tipped ball interception and one catch for minus one yard across three targets.
What Do Fans Think of Travis Kelce’s Play Against Washington?
Many, unfortunately, are taking the interception in particular as a sign to call Kelce “washed.” Though by the start of the fourth quarter, he was able to pull out a touchdown.
However, the previously mentioned stats have still not gone over well with the Chiefs’ fanbase.
“Kelce needs to retire like yesterday,” said one fan on X.

“Travis Kelce has to retire,” another fan said on that same note.
Kelce has been with Kansas City ever since they drafted him as the No. 63 overall pick back in 2013. Currently 36, Kelce had 12,526 career receiving yards and 81 total touchdowns entering play against the Commanders.
He’s also known for being engaged to worldwide superstar singer-songwriter Taylor Swift.
“Kelce you stink. Go retire and hang out with T Swizzle,” one sports-watcher said.

Kelce currently has an impact score of 82.8 and an overall grade of a B- on the PFSN NFL Tight End Impact metric. He is also marked as the No. 6 overall TE on the season so far.

Still, his early performance against Washington just wasn’t been good enough for fans.
“Kelce just retire bro,” said one. “Kelce needs to retire,” yet another person also echoed.
Though it can be argued that several or all of the fans are wrong, Kelce is still widely considered one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, holding multiple league records and owning three Super Bowl rings.
Still, some fans just can’t be satisfied. “Get Kelce off this team ASAP,” another said.

Despite criticism from fans, Kelce finished the game solidly against the Commanders. The star tight end recorded six receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown on eight targets, as the Chiefs won 28-7.
The Chiefs are now 5-3 on the season and will face the Buffalo Bills next week. Kelce has always played well in big games for Kansas City, and he will be motivated to put on a show against the Bills in Week 9.
