Broncos Announce Brutal Injury Update For $96 Million Star

Hold your horses, Broncos Country. Marvin Mims is in concussion protocol, while h-back Nate Adkins is dealing with a knee injury.

Hold your horses, Broncos Country. Pat Surtain is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks, according to multiple NFL insiders.

Latest Pat Surtain II Injury Update

First, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported news on Surtain. On Twitter, Schultz said, “Broncos star CB Patrick Surtain II is dealing with a pectoral injury and is expected to miss 4–6 weeks. No surgery is needed, but I’m told the reigning Defensive Player of the Year will get a second opinion this week to confirm the timeline.”

After that, NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero added, “Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, suffered a pec strain in the win over the Cowboys, per me and Tom Pelissero. He’s considered week-to-week and he could land on IR. But solid news.”

In addition, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Surtain on Twitter as well. After Rapoport, Schefter said, “Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II is expected to be a candidate to be placed on injured reserve due to the pectoral injury he suffered Sunday, as [Jordan Schultz] also reported. Denver’s next four games are at Houston, the Raiders, the Chiefs, and at Washington.”

The good news is Surtain doesn’t need surgery. But, he is in jeopardy of missing the Broncos’ litmus test against the Chiefs in Week 11 as well. The Broncos hoped he’d miss 1-2 weeks, according to ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler.

Surtain tweaked his pec attempting to tackle Cowboys WR George Pickens before halftime in Week 8. The Broncos ruled him out after halftime with what was described as a shoulder injury. Kris Abrams-Draine replaced PS2 against the Cowboys on Sunday. So, the former and Riley Moss would start on the boundary while Surtain is out. Ja’Quan McMillian will likely continue playing in the slot. Rookie CB Jahdae Barron could mix in as well.

Elsewhere on the injury front, Marvin Mims is in concussion protocol, while h-back Nate Adkins is dealing with a knee injury. We’ll have more on those two as news develops. Practically speaking, the Broncos should be able to handle the next two games without Surtain against the Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders. The former’s No. 1 WR is in concussion protocol as well, and the Raiders don’t have an elite boundary WR.
