After a surprising year in 2024, finding some footing in the Cleveland Browns‘ passing game, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy had huge outings a season ago. However, amid Cleveland’s quarterback search, Jeudy has struggled to show off his explosive game.
Still waiting to find the end zone in 2025, Jeudy is off to a very quiet start against the New England Patriots in Week 8. Let’s take a look at his day so far.
What Happened to Cleveland Browns WR Jerry Jeudy?
No, Jeudy is not injured. While dealing with a knee injury during the week, he was cleared to play against the Patriots. However, he might as well be on the bench, as the Browns wideout hasn’t done much against New England.
After the first half of their Week 8 matchup, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel has yet to target the Browns’ wide receiver. This comes a week after hauling in just two of his four targets for 17 yards in Week 7 against the Miami Dolphins. The Browns had a huge game too, pummeling Miami 31-6.

Through seven games in 2025, Jeudy has hauled in 22 receptions on 52 targets for 257 yards and is still waiting to find his way into the end zone. This is a far cry from his performance a season ago, where he snagged 90 passes for 1,229 yards and four touchdowns. Based on PFSN’s WR Impact metric, Jeudy is the 79th-ranked receiver in the league and is graded D-.
Some of those touchdowns came from deep shots, but that’s an area where Jeudy excels. The Browns will have to find a way to get more deep shots to take advantage of the sixth-year wideout’s talents. While he’s been largely ineffective in 2025, as Gabriel gets more time to play, the rookie should get more comfortable going downfield to Jeudy.

Even into the second half, the Browns have not found a way to get Jeudy involved, as the offense struggles against an impressive Patriots defense. While a win in Week 8 may be out of reach, facing a 30-7 deficit late in the third quarter, Cleveland has to find a way to get the offense to move more consistently and maintain momentum. It’s difficult with a rookie under center, but it’s the next step for the offense.
The Browns are dedicated to seeing what their rookies have to offer, which means there will be some growing pains. However, if the offense can’t find a way to move down the field, how much good can Jeudy do for this offense, and is it possibly time to explore the idea of getting some picks or a player who would be able to do more for the offense in its current state?
