Drake London Injury Update

London was a full participant at practice on both Wednesday and Thursday. Everything seemed normal. On Friday, he was listed as limited with a hip issue, but did not carry an injury designation. It wasn’t ideal, but it wasn’t a concern.

What appeared to be routine soreness escalated, though, when the Falcons downgraded London to questionable on Saturday.

It’s clear the injury occurred sometime during Friday’s practice. The Saturday adjustment suggests the team initially didn’t view it as serious but changed course after the hip failed to respond well overnight. These Saturday downgrades often indicate legitimate concern about a player’s availability.

Head coach Raheem Morris hasn’t ruled London out, but the cautious move to label him questionable implies the Falcons will test his mobility pregame before making a final decision.

Atlanta has historically erred on the side of caution with skill players showing any sign of aggravation, especially given they’re already managing quarterback Michael Penix Jr.’s knee injury.

The good news for fantasy managers is the Falcons play in the 1:00 PM ET window, ensuring that London’s official status will be known early Sunday morning. If he can’t suit up, it would be a major blow to a team already dealing with instability under center.

London Fantasy Outlook

If London cannot play, the Falcons would be down both their QB1 and WR1 for a critical home matchup. In that event, Darnell Mooney steps into the WR1 role and would likely see increased volume against a struggling Miami defense that ranks near the bottom of the league in points allowed and coverage success rate. Mooney’s speed and chemistry with veteran backup Kirk Cousins make him an intriguing plug-in WR3 option for Week 8.

With London sidelined, tight end Kyle Pitts would become the team’s secondary option in the passing game, potentially seeing an uptick in red-zone looks. The Dolphins defense has allowed the 15th-most schedule adjusted fantasy points to tight ends this season, putting Pitts firmly on the fantasy radar as a top-12 play if London sits.

Should London be ruled inactive, the offensive emphasis would likely lean even more on Atlanta’s backfield tandem of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, particularly with Miami’s defense ranking among the worst in the league against the run. The Falcons’ scheme under Raheem Morris already leans on the ground game, and his history suggests he won’t hesitate to condense the offense if his top skill players are unavailable.

For fantasy managers holding London, the Saturday downgrade means his status is truly up in the air. If he’s active, he remains a must-start WR1 given his steady target volume and favorable matchup. But the late-week injury and precautionary listing do create legitimate uncertainty that warrants close monitoring Sunday morning.
