Browns Urged To Trade for $130,000,000 WR to Bolster Dillon Gabriel-Led Offense

The Browns’ passing attack ranks near the bottom in production, so the team is searching for offensive weapons to improve its output

The Cleveland Browns secured their second win of the season with a 31-6 home victory over the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who recently became the starter following the trade of Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals, managed the game efficiently but was not asked to carry the offense.

Never mind the result — Cleveland’s passing attack still ranks near the bottom of the league in production, averaging 178.3 passing yards per game, with five passing touchdowns and a 58.8% completion rate. With those numbers, the Browns’ need to upgrade their offense is clear, and a New York Jets wide receiver has recently been linked to them.

Cleveland Browns Linked to New York Jets WR

There has been trade speculation surrounding New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson to the Cleveland Browns. On “The Tony Rizzo Show,” the hosts expressed support for the idea of Cleveland pursuing Wilson.

“I’d drive to New York to get him,” Rizzo said on Wednesday. “We’ll take him in a heartbeat.”

Wilson has been a consistent performer for the Jets, recording three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. PFSN’s wide receiver Impact Scale rates Wilson at 75.6 (C grade) through six games, ranking 39th among all receivers. He has recorded 36 catches for 395 yards and four touchdowns so far this season..

In July, he signed a four-year, $130 million contract extension that includes $90 million guaranteed, keeping him under contract through the 2030 season. The deal made him the first receiver to average more than $31 million per year after only three NFL seasons.

If the Jets were open to trade discussions, recent wide receiver deals could help indicate Wilson’s potential market value. For instance, George Pickens was traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick.

While no formal discussions have been confirmed, Browns General Manager Andrew Berry has shown a willingness to make aggressive personnel moves in the past. Adding Wilson could address an offensive weakness and give the team a steady option at wide receiver.

Meanwhile, the Jets’ offense has struggled this year, as the team is 0-7 following a 13-6 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Wilson was inactive for that game due to a hyperextended knee suffered in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos in London. Coach Aaron Glenn said the team is hopeful Wilson can return soon but offered no timetable.
