Bryce Young Injury Update: Latest on the Panthers Star After He Exited Week 7 vs. Jets

As the Carolina Panthers were moving towards a win against the New York Jets in Week 7, their quarterback Bryce Young suffered an injury.

The Carolina Panthers are looking to move to 4-3 and prove that they can compete with teams after years of struggle. While it hasn’t been the prettiest of wins, they continue to compete and have the Jets on the ropes late in the third quarter. With a 10-point lead, the Panthers are in control, but QB Bryce Young went to the locker room with an apparent injury.

What Happened to Bryce Young?

Young went to the locker room late in the third quarter with an injury. He looked to be gingerly heading to the locker room and was accompanied by trainers. On a sack, he looked to have hurt his ankle.

Young completed 15 of his 25 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers’ offense hasn’t been spectacular, but they are doing enough to win.

Young was eventually downgraded to out with about nine minutes left in the fourth quarter. With him out, Andy Dalton will be in charge of the offense. Take a look at the play where Young was believed to have been injured.

Dalton is left with protecting the 10-point Carolina advantage. The Jets’ defense has done a good job of preventing scores for Carolina, and they’ve made it hard for the Panthers. Rico Dowdle is coming off back-to-back games of 230+ scrimmage yards, but he hasn’t had the same impact. Dalton is no stranger to the NFL and is going to have to manage the rest of the game and hopefully get help from Dowdle and Chuba Hubbard in the backfield.

The Panthers’ defense deserves credit for its performance in keeping the New York offense in check. It forced the Jets into a quarterback change and hasn’t given up a touchdown yet. The Panthers will be focused on escaping New York with a win despite not being as dominant as some may have expected.

The win is Carolina’s first priority, and then they will turn their attention to Young’s status and any time he might miss. Young is the 30th-ranked quarterback in PFSN’s Quarterback Impact score with a grade of 64.8. While Young hasn’t been among the best QBs in the league, he is their franchise guy, and they will be hoping his ankle injury won’t make him miss any further time.
