Aaron Rodgers was once again elite in an old-school quarterback duel against Joe Flacco during Thursday Night Football between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals. While it was Flacco who came out on top thanks to a near-perfect performance by Ja’Marr Chase, Rodgers threw four touchdowns and avoided a single sack during the game.
However, he did take a pretty bad hit, and surprisingly, it came from one of his own teammates. After throwing a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, Rodgers was celebrating when offensive tackle Broderick Jones accidentally took him down. He was furious, and so are the fans online.
Broderick Jones Facing the Heat After Taking Down Aaron Rodgers
Rodgers was outstanding, keeping the Steelers in contention throughout the night. Down by six points late in the fourth quarter, he delivered a clutch 68-yard touchdown pass to tight end Pat Freiermuth, giving Pittsburgh the lead. The veteran quarterback was so thrilled with the play that he broke out his trademark Mario celebration.
However, the joy didn’t last long. As Rodgers celebrated, Jones came sprinting over to join in but lost his balance, accidentally taking Rodgers down with his 311-pound body. The four-time MVP was visibly furious, shoving and yelling at Jones in frustration.

Thankfully, Rodgers avoided injury, but fans online weren’t nearly as forgiving. Many blasted Jones for what they saw as a careless mistake that could’ve ended the Steelers’ season.
“Broderick Jones is trying to take the Steelers out single handedly,” a fan wrote.

“Dude is grumpy. I know, but he’s also probably paranoid from where he got hurt last year,” wrote another in reference to Rodgers’ injury history.
“Broderick Jones is a f**king idiot & that holding call killed us,” another fan commented.
Jones, a first-round pick from the 2023 NFL Draft, has yet to fully break out in Pittsburgh. He’s allowed 11 total pressures and four sacks this season and currently ranks 131st in PFSN’s Offensive Line Impact metric with a grade of 67.8. Following Thursday’s incident, some fans are even calling for him to be cut.
“F**king cut Broderick Jones, a fan commented.
Fucking cut Broderick Jones

“Typical broderick jones behavior,” another fan commented.
“Broderick Jones stupid as f*ck lmfao,” a third fan commented.
While Rodgers avoided an injury, Cincinnati responded to the touchdown by driving down the field for a game-winning field goal to make it 33-31, spoiling what could’ve been a storybook finish. With the loss, the Steelers drop to 4-2, while the Bengals improve to 3-4 and are right back in the thick of the AFC North race with a favorable stretch ahead before their bye week.
