NFL Trade Deadline Nears For Teams Across League

With the NFL trade deadline about two weeks away, NFL teams are looking at who they have on their rosters while also eyeing who’s out there on the trade market right now.

Teams like the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers have some immediate needs, while others are looking to either boost their rosters for playoff runs or are already looking toward next season.

The NFL trade deadline is set for 4 p.m. Eastern on Nov. 4. Let’s take a look and see what might take place.

As for the Eagles, they’ve picked up players like wide receiver John Metchie III and running back Tank Gigsby. But those additions have not been able to help the Eagles get their act together. Philadelphia is coming off a pretty embarrassing 34-17 loss to the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium last Thursday night.

ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler is hearing that the Eagles might be looking for a cornerback and/or an edge rusher now. The Eagles’ defense could not stop Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart or running back Cam Skattebo at all. The loss to the Giants might be a huge wake-up call for the defending Super Bowl champions.

“Relatedly, the Eagles offensive line has yet to crack a C-level Team OL Impact Grade in any game this season,” according to the PFSN Insights Dashboard. “The unit had a B-level grade or better in seven games last season. Philly ranks 25th in Team OLi grade (64.1), which would be their worst in a season since at least 2019.”

Skattebo, according to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, has a 79 RB Impact Score and grades out at a C+. Any more games like his incredible performance last Thursday night in front of a national television audience should boost that score and grade a whole lot.

“Skattebo’s Boom-Bust rate (difference between % of 10+ yard runs vs. % of negative runs) was +21.1% in this game,” according to the PFSN Insights Dashboard. “That’s the seventh-best by any RB in a game this season and the 2nd-best by a Giants RB over the last five seasons (Tyrone Tracy Jr. had a +22.2% rate vs. the Seahawks last season).”

With Nick Bosa and Fred Warner out, the 49ers are looking to get some help on defense, too. One target for San Francisco might be Cincinnati Bengals star Trey Hendrickson, although the Bengals have said they’re not interested in trading him. One has to wonder, though, if the price was right, would the Bengals pull the trigger on a deal?

For that matter, ESPN NFL reporter Dan Graziano raises an interesting tidbit. “If they lose to the Steelers, Jets and Bears and wake up on trade deadline day with a 2-7 record, maybe they consider it,” Graziano wrote on Wednesday. Edge rushers Rashan Gary of the Green Bay Packers and Jaelan Phillips of the Miami Dolphins might also be trade targets for the 49ers.

New York Jets RB Breece Hall Might Be On The Move

NFL teams are always looking to bolster their backfield, especially in the days ahead of the NFL trade deadline. One name bandied about by a lot of teams is New York Jets running back Breece Hall who, despite his own claim that he wants to stay with the Jets, might be open to the right deal and situation.

According to the PFSN NFL RB Impact metrics, Hall has an 81.2 RB Impact Score and grades out at a B-.

Right now, the Jets are 0-6, and a fire sale on the team could be coming up soon.

The New England Patriots could turn their eyes toward the Cleveland Browns running back Jerome Ford. He could join an up-and-coming Patriots squad if he’s available for a Browns team that could be peaking ahead to next season.

Speaking of the Giants, running back Devin Singletary could be used as trade bait. Skattebo, early in this season, has proven that he was a solid pick for Big Blue. Tyrone Tracy Jr. is also showing out for the Giants, so Singletary looks expendable now.

Running back Jaylen Wright is a trade possibility for the Miami Dolphins, who are having a lot of trouble right now. The Dolphins need to fix their internal issues while also looking to bolster their roster.

Keep an eye on the Baltimore Ravens. They’ve had back-to-back stinkers against the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is scheduled to return this week from his hamstring injury, which pleases Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

But the Ravens are 1-5 right now and are seeing any Super Bowl aspirations become gone with the wind.

“The Ravens had a 60.1 DEFi grade, their third-worst in a game this century,” according to the PFSN Insights Scoreboard when looking at the team’s Week 6 game. “The only worse grades: 2011 Week 15 vs Chargers (57.9) 2007 Week 14 vs Colts (58.6). Baltimore has had four games with a D-level DEFi grade this season. They only had three of those from 2022-24 combined.”

The Las Vegas Raiders might be willing to part with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. No, the Raiders are not looking to trade him, yet Meyers requested a trade during the preseason. Keep an eye on what Las Vegas might do under head coach Pete Carroll soon.

Business is about to pick up around the NFL, so stay tuned to see what teams make moves.
