Skip Bayless Weighs In on NBC’s Coverage of Taylor Swift, Caitlin Clark During Chiefs’ SNF Game

Skip Bayless praised NBC's reduced focus on Taylor Swift during Sunday’s Chiefs win, highlighting a game-first broadcast approach.

Taylor Swift returned to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs notched their third win of the season. The pop icon was joined by WNBA star Caitlin Clark, with the two seated together in Travis Kelce’s suite.

In contrast to previous broadcasts, NBC appeared to adopt a more measured approach to its coverage, limiting on-screen shots of Swift and Clark during the primetime matchup. Veteran sports commentator Skip Bayless took notice of the shift in coverage and offered a pointed yet approving take on it.

Skip Bayless Weighs In On NBC’s Restrained Approach to Taylor Swift Coverage

Swift made her first in-season appearance in GEHA Field this year, once again turning Arrowhead Stadium into a cultural spotlight. Seated alongside Clark in Travis Kelce’s suite, she brought star power to Sunday Night Football, but this time, the broadcast let the game take center stage.

NBC’s cameras caught the pair only briefly early in the first quarter, showing Swift sharing a moment with Kelce’s father, Ed, who proudly wore his son’s No. 87 jersey. Beyond that, the network primarily focused on the field, a notable shift that didn’t go unnoticed by fans or by Bayless, who applauded the restraint.

“Amazing (and refreshing) that NBC is choosing not to show Taylor Swift (and Caitlin Clark) up in the box every time Kelce makes a play,” he wrote.

Fans have often voiced frustration over Swift’s appearances overshadowing the game itself, and NBC seems to have taken notice. Still, her presence may have had a positive impact as Kelce delivered his best performance of the season, recording six catches for 78 yards.
Swift and Kelce got engaged in August 2025, nearly two years after the tight end famously shot his shot during her Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium.

Now approaching the twilight of his career and with a wedding on the horizon, Kelce continues to perform at an elite level. He’s logged 28 receptions for 321 yards and two touchdowns this season, ranking seventh in PFSN’s Tight End Impact metric.

The Chiefs entered Sunday night with a 2–3 record and plenty to prove. Against one of the NFC’s toughest teams, they did just that, securing a 30–17 win to climb back to .500 and into the top ten in the PFSN’s Week 7 Power Rankings.

While early-season losses raised eyebrows, all came against top-tier opponents, and this decisive victory might be the spark Kansas City needed to reignite its championship ambitions.
