Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders recently appeared on the “Home Grown” show alongside former NFL quarterbacks David and Derek Carr, where he discussed his craziest NFL purchase, Shedeur Sanders, and how he got the ‘Prime Time’ nickname.
During this interview, the former NFL superstar recalled a hilarious moment he shared with his son, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Shilo Sanders, showcasing a surprise side of the extravagant head coach that is often not seen by the media.

During his most recent appearance on “Home Grown” alongside the Carr brothers, Prime Time shared a hilarious fact about himself that not many would expect, revealing that the Colorado head coach can actually be ‘cheap’ when it’s called for.
“I’m cheap about everything. Shilo just did a video where he was at somebody’s restaurant, and the bill was $165, and he says what I always say, We will never be back here again, it’s the last supper, we will never be back here again.” Sanders revealed.
Ironically, just moments before this hilarious insight, the Colorado head coach revealed his craziest purchase from his time in the National Football League, which happened during a practice in Miami ahead of his Super Bowl matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
“I bought the Lambo in Miami, and I told them, drive the Lambo up, park it at the curb at the hotel, and leave the door open, so we’re pulling up, and Eric Davis says, damn, that’s a bad Lambo, it ain’t, but one fool that would do that.”
Despite his apparent horror at spending that amount of money at a restaurant, and his proclivity for crazy purchases, neither makes a dent in the net worth of the legendary NFL cornerback and Colorado head coach.
According to celebritynetworth.com, Coach Prime has a net worth of upwards of $60 million, including his recent contract with the Buffaloes, which is reportedly worth upwards of $54 million over five years.
Currently, Sanders is dealing with a string of health issues, including a surgery to remove blood clots from his leg on Tuesday. The Colorado coach was already back on the practice field Wednesday.
Following Colorado’s loss to TCU last weekend, which saw them go 2-4 on the season, with a 0-3 record in Big 12 play, the Buffaloes’ head coach revealed that he experienced a number of medical issues throughout the game.
“Cat’s out of the bag, all right. I think I’ve got more blood clots. It doesn’t make sense. I’m hurting like crazy… I’m not getting blood to my leg. That’s why my leg is throbbing.” Sanders explained.
While his most recent health issues are an obvious setback, the Colorado head coach has suffered with his health in the past, also having had two toes amputated on his left foot due to clots back in 2021 during his time at Jackson State.
However, no matter if he decides to see out the entirety of his contract at Colorado, losing that money would not make a huge splash in the wallet of the former NFL and MLB star, especially if he continues being as ‘cheap’ as he thinks he is.
Currently, Coach Prime is also not expected to miss Colorado’s game this weekend, as they take on Iowa State, looking to turn around their poor start to the season. According to Pro Football Network’s Playoff meter, Colorado is projected to finish the season 4-7.
