Entering the China Open as the No. 3 seed, she opened with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Britain’s Katie Boulter before taking down local favorite Zhang Shuai 7-6(11), 6-0. In the Round of 16, she rallied from a set down to defeat 13th seed Karolína Muchová 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. She then overcame sixth seed Jasmine Paolini 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-4 to secure a spot in the semifinals.
The American’s momentum surged as she dismantled defending champion Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-2 in just 58 minutes, marking her third career WTA 1000 final. Anisimova capped her stellar run by defeating 26th seed Linda Nosková 6-0, 2-6, 6-2 in one hour and 46 minutes to claim her second title of the season.
During the trophy presentation, Anisimova gave an adorable shoutout to her nephews. Fans had already met one of them, Jackson, when she introduced him after her quarterfinal win at Wimbledon. Following her China Open triumph, Anisimova withdrew from the Wuhan Open, citing discomfort in her left calf.

Anisimova Gives Fans Reassurance Over Left Calf Discomfort
In a post-match press conference following her China Open victory, Anisimova revealed she had been dealing with foot and calf pain since the third round but insisted it was “nothing serious” and would not affect the rest of her season.
“I was having pain in my foot and in my calf like more into the third round. I think it was obvious in one of the matches where I was in pain. I was just hurting all day when I was walking,” Anisimova said.

“I’m still having a bit of pain, but it’s nothing serious. It’s just like annoying aches and pains. The good thing at the end of the day is it’s nothing that would limit me or prevent me to keep playing for the rest of the season,” she added.
After Anisimova withdrew from the Wuhan Open, fellow American Iva Jović stepped in as a lucky loser. Jović is set to play Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro in her first-round match.
