Kansas City Chiefs Predicted to Trade for 5x Pro Bowl RB After Brutal Loss to Jaguars in Week 5

The Kansas City Chiefs are predicted to make a big move for an All-Pro running back to bolster their offense ahead of the trade deadline.

After losing to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, the Kansas City Chiefs have officially fallen to 2-3. This is the first time they’ve had this poor start since 2021, in which they also went 2-3. While this is the second time they’ve had a losing record through five games with Patrick Mahomes as quarterback, it didn’t seem to matter too much the first time, as they still went on to make the AFC Championship Game.

Even so, that was the only season in the last six years that they hadn’t made the Super Bowl. This is a crazy stat in itself, but more importantly, it displays the standard the Chiefs play to. They must make changes if they want to be Super Bowl champions again. Luckily, someone could help them and push them to the postseason.

What is the Kansas City Chiefs’ Next Move?

With the NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching on November 4, Sports Illustrated released an article listing one trade that every team should make ahead of the deadline. One of those trades sent New Orleans Saints’ 5x Pro Bowl RB Alvin Kamara to the Chiefs in exchange for a fifth-round pick.

While the Chiefs, who rank 7th in PFSN’s Offense Impact Ranking, have struggled early, they have been without two of their top targets, Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, for most of the season. Worthy returned in Week 4, and Rice is set to return from suspension in Week 7. With their receiving core due to be whole again in the coming weeks, there’s only one other area they need to fix.

That being their struggles at the running back position. Through five games, Isiah Pacheco has just 163 yards and no touchdowns. Kareem Hunt has been a tad better, rushing for 164 yards and three touchdowns, but he’s only averaging 3.8 yards per carry. Additionally, Mahomes has been the team’s leading rusher so far this season with 190 yards, highlighting this issue.

Kamara hasn’t played amazingly this season, but he’s on one of the worst offensive units in the entire NFL and still has over 100 more yards than either of the Chiefs’ current running backs.

Putting Kamara back into a system where he’s the only person defenses are trying to stop would provide him with many opportunities to succeed. This would also take pressure off Mahomes and open up the offense more. If they could get the deal done, it would be a match made in heaven.
