After pulling out a huge win in his first game back, the Washington Commanders posted an intriguing video featuring QB Jayden Daniels and USC’s JuJu Watkins. Watkins, 20, and Daniels, 24, were seen dapping up after Daniels hugged his mother following the Commanders’ first win since September 21.
Upon seeing the interaction between Watkins and Daniels, fans immediately speculated a relationship.

In a world where TE Travis Kelce is with Taylor Swift and WR Stefon Diggs is with Cardi B, Daniels and Watkins could be the next big relationship. The pair of athletes has each dominated their respective sports, though Watkins will not be playing in the upcoming 2025-26 women’s basketball season. Her ACL tear proved to be more than enough to keep the Trojans’ star out of action.
Daniels, who was dealing with an injury of his own, returned and looked quite well against the Los Angeles Chargers. The formerly 3-0 Chargers now sit at 3-2, the same record as the Commanders. Daniels’ final line saw him go 15/26 for 231 yards with a touchdown.
He added eight carries for 39 yards. Seeing as he had more rushing attempts than he did in Week 2, the second-year player was clearly feeling back to normal. Daniels still has his work cut out for him as he’s 27th in PFSN’s QB Impact metric with a C-.
“It was mama turning around like come up here, JUJU.. we ain’t mad about it JD we would love to see it!!” One fan wrote. Someone else commented, “He promised Ju Ju a Touchdown….and he ALWAYS keeps his promises.” If anything, it was just two friends embracing after Daniels delivered on his promise.
That said, others continued to speculate, “We all grown, we all know that was not a “friendly” handshake .. i fw it more cuz it be best to just keep things on the low so ppl not all in yall business.” Another commented on the handshake, “That handshake and look told us everything. jayden and juju go together.”
One fan expressed their strong feelings, “He should have hugged juju first instead of his mama. Like sir cut the cord. I promise yall will be ok.” This individual wrote, “Oh they got a handshake? They locked in,” with the laughing emoji.
There was a rumor going around that Daniels and Watkins are cousins, but this fan believes their handshake and the way she’s looking at him express the opposite. At the end of the day, NFL fans will continue to speculate their relationship, or lack thereof, until either comes out to announce things one way or the other.
