The New York Jets had a lot of turnover during the offseason and are waiting to see how that will pay off, as they have endured a tough 0-4 start. However, one of the pieces of continuity, running back Breece Hall, went down with an injury and is in the medical tent. Here’s everything to know about his injury.
What Happened to New York Jets RB Breece Hall?
The Jets had already been down running back Braelon Allen for quite some time, placing him on injured reserve earlier in the week. Thus, the Team was already going to be leaning heavily on Hall. However, a play late in the first half led to the Jets’ starting RB getting banged up.
After an impressive 10-yard run for the first down, linebacker Marist Liufau placed a perfect punch on the football, forcing Hall to fumble. Following the tackle, Hall remained on the turf and went to the medical tent. He would return to the bench shortly after making it seem like it wasn’t anything too serious.
That punch out on Breece Hall was textbook perfection. He got banged up after the play as well

The fumble came at a tough time as Hall had looked good so far in Week 5. On nine carries, he had rushed for 78 yards and turned a reception into eight yards. While it appears he will be okay, this is not the first back-breaking fumble for the Jets offense this season, as Allen fumbled in a similar spot on Thursday Night Football against the Miami Dolphins in Week 4.
The Jets will need Hall to clean things up. The fumble led to a 14-point swing as the Jets failed to score on what looked to be a promising drive, but the Cowboys scored a touchdown after recovering the fumble at their own nine-yard line. Combine that with a Javonte Williams house call just before halftime for Dallas, and this game seems to be out of reach before New York even hits the locker room.
Heading into Week 5, Hall was ranked as the 12th-best RB in the league based on PFSN’s Running Back Impact metric.
Head coach Aaron Glenn will do all he can to fire his team up at halftime. But with the Cowboys defense firing on all cylinders and the Jets ruining drives with countless errors, it will take quite the second-half effort to claw out a win for the Jets. It looks pretty likely New York is heading towards a 0-5 start for the 2025 NFL season.
