Saturday marked the first game back for No. 20 Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore after missing the last two weeks due to a suspension related to the “Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandal.” He didn’t seem to miss a beat, as the Wolverines rolled to a 24-10 victory over Big Ten rivals Wisconsin.
What Did Sherrone Moore Say After Michigan’s Victory Over Wisconsin?
What started as a slow, tight Big Ten showdown between the Michigan Wolverines and Wisconsin Badgers quickly turned into an easy victory after the home team held UW without points in both the second and third quarters.
One of the biggest proponents in this effort was running back Justice Haynes. The junior out of Alpharetta, Georgia, recorded 19 carries for 117 yards and two touchdowns — one in the opening period to tie the game, and one in the fourth quarter to ice the game.
When the clocks hit triple zeroes, Moore met with FOX Sports reporter Jenny Taft. “Ha — I’m elated. I feel sorry for the team that let [Haynes] go, but I’m glad he’s here,” he joked.

Before he arrived in Ann Arbor before the 2024 season, Haynes was a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide in Nick Saban’s last season as coach. While he had bright spots with the Tide, he never really found his niche. When new coach Kalen DeBoer came in, he transferred out in search of “a larger role and a different team culture.”
Well, now, it seems he’s found his groove. Haynes and the rest of the Michigan offense managed to pull together two wins in Moore’s absence. Against Central Michigan and at Nebraska, he rushed for 253 yards and two scores on 31 carries for an average of around eight yards per touch.

After seeing his reaction postgame, it’s clear Moore is glad to be back. In his postgame press conference, he explained that the first thing he did after his suspension ended following last week’s game was get back to work.

He revealed that he almost immediately started working with his receivers on “making catches away from their bodies.” Clearly, that work translated — true freshman quarterback Bryce Young totaled 270 passing yards and a touchdown on 19 completions.
With Moore back, the real meat of the Wolverines’ schedule approaches. No. 20 Michigan heads into Week 6 with a 4-1 record and a 2-0 mark in conference play.
Next, on Saturday, October 11, Big Blue will travel to Los Angeles to face USC. It will also play Washington, Michigan State, Purdue, Northwestern, and Maryland before taking on top-ranked Ohio State.
