Monday Night Football’s doubleheader in Week 4 saw one of the most gruesome injuries in recent memory. Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill went down in pain after landing awkwardly on the sideline going for a catch.
When he sat up, fans noticed how his leg looked and immediately knew something was wrong. After he was carted off the field, it was only a matter of time before his fate was sealed.
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill Set to Miss the Rest of the 2025 Season
While a dislocated knee is severe on its own, Hill’s injury is even more severe. The star receiver is sidelined with multiple torn ligaments, including a torn ACL, in addition to the dislocation.
Thankfully, Hill underwent successful surgery; his agent confirmed, “everything was done with one procedure. ” The 31-year-old eyes a return for the start of the 2026 season. Somehow, things went from bad to worse for the Dolphins.
Tagovailoa already faced an uphill battle, but now he’ll have to find ways to keep Miami’s offense moving without his top target. He still has WR Jaylen Waddle to rely on, but defenses will likely key in on the 26-year-old with Hill out for the rest of the season.
Sitting at 1-5 through their first six games, the Dolphins will look to make an example out of the Cleveland Browns in Week 7. Without Hill, their work would be cut out for them.
Before his injury, Hill was far and away the team’s top receiver. He led Miami in receptions (21), targets (29), receiving yards (265), yards per catch (12.6), yards per game (66.3), and also recorded the team’s longest reception of the season at 47 yards. Hill accounted for four “big plays”, receptions of 20 yards or more, totaling more than the rest of the team combined.
Heading into Week 7, the Dolphins’ offense is ranked 13th in the league based on PFSN’s Offense Impact metric. They have an impact score of 77.1 and are graded C+.
Players like Waddle, Darren Waller, and De’Von Achane have stepped up following Hill’s injury. Waddle currently leads the team in receiving yards with 390, and is tied with Achane for the most receptions, as both have 29 each.
Waller has scored a team-high four receiving touchdowns in just three games this season, and he has emerged as a big-body safety blanket for Tagovailoa.
Achane has rushed for 390 yards and three touchdowns on 76 carries through six games, while also adding 29 receptions for 195 yards and three more TDs. Health will be crucial for the Dolphins if they hope to salvage their season, but given how things have unfolded, Miami appears on track to secure a top-10 pick in next year’s draft.
