Coming Off A Tie, Will the Cowboys Have CeeDee Lamb Back For Week 5?

As mentioned, in Week 3, Lamb was hurt against the Bears, suffering a high-ankle sprain. This is typically a multi-week injury, and he missed his first game in Week 4. He didn’t have a single catch in Week 3 before getting hurt. In the two weeks prior, he had no less than 110 yards or seven catches in a game.

Without Lamb in the lineup for Week 4, the Cowboys hosted the Packers. This game was important because it marked Micah Parsons’ return to Dallas, his first game back since being traded to the Packers before the season for two first-round picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.

Without Lamb in the lineup in Week 4, fellow Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens caught eight passes of his 11 targets for 134 yards and two touchdowns. On one of his touchdown catches, a clip is circulating of Lamb on the sideline calling the touchdown before it happens, as Pickens is faced with press coverage.

Still, without Lamb, the Cowboys couldn’t get the win, tying with the Packers 40-40. According to Scorigami, this was the first game in NFL history to end in a 40-40 tie.

Now, with Week 5 on the horizon and a road date against the Jets, will Lamb play? The short and simple answer is “No.”

According to Underdog NFL, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer has stated that Lamb is “trending in the right direction” and has no plans to place him on the injured reserve list.

This comes after a report by The Athletic’s Todd Archer, on September 22, 2025, stating that Lamb would miss 3-4 weeks. “Pro Bowl wide receiver CeeDee Lamb could miss 3-4 weeks with a high left ankle sprain suffered in Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Bears, according to a source,” Archer wrote on X.

However, the Cowboys did receive a positive update on Lamb. On Wednesday, the star receiver did rehab work during practice. “Good sign for Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle),” Archer wrote on X. “No longer wearing the boot and doing rehab work today during practice.”

This does not mean that Lamb will be ready to play in Week 5, but it is still a step in the right direction for the Cowboys star.

Through four weeks, the Cowboys are 1-2-1, with their only win coming in Week 2 against the New York Giants, 40-37, in another overtime game.

The offense for the Cowboys, with or without Lamb in the lineup, has been excellent. They’re averaging 28.5 points per game, which is fifth in the NFL. They also rank second in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric with an 89.6 grade, only trailing the Buffalo Bills.

However, the defense cannot stop anyone through the air, allowing 297.3 passing yards per game, which is dead last in the league. With that 3-4 week timeline, expect to see Lamb back by Week 6 or 7.
