A lot of eyes on the NFL Sunday were tuned into the New York Giants game as a result of rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart getting his first career start.
The rookie took on the task for the Giants as they started the year with a winless 0-3 record and entered Week 4 still searching for their first win. The mission was accomplished, with the Los Angeles Chargers falling 21-18Â against the Giants.

Dart finished the game throwing for 111 yards and one touchdown, in addition to saying this is just the start of his career.
“It was just special to get the first one,” Dart said, according to The Athletic. “This is just the start … I didn’t feel like I really had to adjust my game. It’s just kind of football. You’re going to take a little bit of a step or something; you’re not going to feel perfect throughout a game.”
After his time with the Ole Miss Rebels, the Giants drafted Dart with the No. 25 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. Dart rushed for his first career touchdown at the 9:20 mark of the first quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers, not wasting any time making an impression in the league.
The previously mentioned touchdown came as he led the Giants on a nine-play, 89-yard drive and finished it with a 15-yard touchdown run to help put New York up 7-0Â early in the first quarter.
Though Dart was given the nod over NFL veteran QB Russell Wilson, video has since surfaced of Dart from the postgame press conference saying he admires Wilson.
“I want to give a big shoutout to Russell Wilson. I know this week probably wasn’t the easiest thing but he handled it like a professional,” Dart said. “[I] have a ton of respect for him.”

Against the Dallas Cowboys, Wilson threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns, including a 48-yard pass to Malik Nabers that should have won the Giants the game with just 25 seconds left. Since the nod was given to Dart, Wilson previously stressed that he would continue to try to be a leader and a positive presence for the Giants, especially for his rookie position mate, Dart.
Wilson is 36 years old and was drafted as the 75th overall pick by Seattle in 2012. He signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Giants back in March.
The veteran signal caller took to his Instagram story to pen a heartfelt message, seemingly in response to the postgame statement, to Dart on his first start.
“Got You Bro! Young Stud! First W! Let’s Keep Stacking,” Wilson said.
The Giants currently have a D- grade with a score of 61.1 in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric and turn their attention to hitting the road to take on the New Orleans Saints on October 5.
