New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers was injured trying to catch a deep ball down the right sideline in the first half Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Chargers.
All eyes were already on the Giants in Week 4, with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart earning the first start of his career. In his debut, he helped the Giants earn their first win over the Chargers in a 21-18 fashion. But in the end, Nabers’ injury still looms in the air.
Kayvon Thibodeaux Gives Public Response to Malik Nabers’ Injury
It is believed that Nabers, in fact, suffered a torn ACL. He will undergo an MRI on Monday for confirmation. Several Giants teammates came onto the field to check on Nabers, who was in intense pain and was then carted to the locker room. It was clear the injury was serious, as the wideout immediately reached for his right leg as he went to the ground.
After the game, the media informed Kayvon Thibodeaux that Nabers was likely to have sustained a torn ACL. He said that while it’s an incredibly unfortunate situation, the Giants will maintain an attitude of placing importance on moving forward.
“Man, you know he’s a ball player man and that hurts. But we definitely, I hate to say it, didn’t blink an eye,” Thibodeaux said of Nabers’ injury. “He’s a guy we need, part of our team we need out there on the field but it’s the next man up. That’s the name of the game and we’ve just got to keep going.”

Before leaving the game, Nabers had two catches for 20 yards. But the injury would have broken the heart of many fantasy football enthusiasts. The average recovery time for a torn ACL is six to nine months. If this were to happen, it would be a devastating loss for the Giants, who are now looking to build on a 1-3 record.
NFL, at what point is your league and ownership going to recognize that Malik Nabers very likely does not blow out his right knee on this play if it’s a grass field? You need to do a better job of protecting your star players. Praying for Nabers. 🙏 @NFL @Giants @NFLPA pic.twitter.com/qavwT7BGzK

The New York Giants currently have a D- grade and a score of 62.9 in PFSN’s Offense Impact metric.
As a rookie, Nabers caught a franchise-record 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in the 2024 season. He had tallied 16 catches for 251 yards and two touchdowns through three games this year.
