Where Will Sam Pittman Land Next?

According to a report from On3 Sports on X, Pittman’s firing became official on Sunday, September 28, 2025. Yesterday, on Saturday, the Razorbacks fell 56-13 to No. 22 Notre Dame in Fayetteville, an embarrassing home loss that drops the team to 2-3 entering SEC play.

College football fans wasted no time debating where the experienced coach will end up next. Social media lit up with suggestions for his next coaching destination.

Florida emerged as the top destination among fans. One user suggested an immediate hire, writing, “Florida should hire him instantly as their next head coach.”

Another fan viewed Pittman as a clear upgrade, posting, “It’d be an upgrade over Sun Belt Billy,” referring to the Florida Gators’ own coaching struggles with Billy Napier.

Georgia fans pushed for a homecoming. One supporter made a passionate plea, “COME HOME TO GEORGIA.”

Meanwhile, another predicted a quick reunion with his former program, stating, “Bet he’s on the Sooner staff as an assistant by the end of the year.”

Some fans focused on regional connections. One user simply advocated for the coach, saying, “Bring him home, Kirby,” referencing his ties to Georgia coach Kirby Smart.

What’s Next for the Veteran Coach?

Pittman’s firing comes after defensive breakdowns cost Arkansas multiple games this season. The Razorbacks allowed 56 points to Notre Dame in their most recent outing, highlighting the struggles that led to his dismissal.

His experience as both a head coach and elite position coach should attract interest from multiple programs. Pittman previously served as offensive line coach at Georgia under Smart, so making a return to Athens is a realistic possibility at some point.

The coaching carousel will likely heat up as more positions become available throughout the season. Programs seeking proven leadership and recruiting prowess will undoubtedly consider Pittman’s candidacy.

Pittman leaves Arkansas with a 32-34 overall record and three bowl victories during his tenure. His ability to develop offensive linemen and recruit at a high level remains his calling card in the coaching profession.
