The New York Giants are not happy with their 0-3 start to the season. Before the season gets out of hand, the Giants have decided to make a change at quarterback, announcing that rookie Jaxson Dart will take over Russell Wilson’s starting role.
This move comes after their Week 3 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, where Wilson only threw for 160 yards and two interceptions. Now, many people want to know what is next for Wilson after this benching. He recently spoke to reporters and seemed upbeat about his situation.
Russell Wilson Thinks He Can Still Help His Team
After it was announced that Wilson had been benched, he spoke to reporters about what this meant for his future.
According to Ralph Vacchiano, Wilson said, “I want to be here,” and he does not plan to ask for a trade or release.

Wilson has always been the consummate professional, so seeing him handle this the “right” way should come as no surprise. Wilson will now serve as a mentor to Dart and be ready to go in at a moment’s notice as the backup quarterback.
Insider Jordan Schultz also mentioned that Wilson thinks he has something left in the tank. “For me personally, I’m not done… I know I can help this football team if that comes up,” Wilson said.

The Giants will likely not go back to Wilson unless Dart gets injured. They want to see what the rookie can do and must allow him to go through the growing pains without him needing to look over his shoulder.
Jaxson Dart Could Bring a Spark to the Giants
Sometimes, a quarterback change can energize the team and its fan base. The Giants are hoping for that by starting Dart. He was one of their two first-round picks in April’s NFL Draft and has the upside to be the franchise quarterback.
The Giants have struggled at quarterback for many years, ever since Eli Manning retired. They tried with Daniel Jones, and that did not work out. But now, they are hoping Dart is the man for the future in the Big Apple.
