The 2025 NFL Trade Deadline is rapidly approaching. Any deals this season must be done by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, between Weeks 9 and 10. While there are still six weeks to go, the contenders and pretenders are already taking shape, so let’s look at five NFL teams that may be sellers and five that could be buyers on the trade market in the coming weeks.
Sellers:
Miami Dolphins
Mike McDaniel may have saved his job by getting his team to play hard against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night, but the team is still 0-3 and going nowhere this season. If they continue their losing ways, the 2026 offseason could be a perfect time to blow it up and start from scratch ahead of what should be a deep quarterback draft class.
Plus, with the NFL trade deadline looming, the Dolphins have several assets that contending teams will be interested in.
Tyreek Hill has a lot of on-field value for teams willing to look past the ugly off-field accusations. On the defensive side, Jaelan Phillips is a young pass rusher with upside who several teams will covet.
The biggest issue here is general manager Chris Grier, who Dolphins fans would love to see go, but who may not be willing to tear down the mediocre team he built over the last nine years he’s been in charge.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons mostly make this list because they have one massive asset to unload in veteran QB Kirk Cousins. With names like Joe Burrow, Brock Purdy, and J.J. McCarthy already out with injuries and possibly more to follow, the Falcons may be able to move Cousins, even with his $40 million per year contract.
This is what I have been saying is the issue with the Falcons offense. The play calling is way too predictable and we are not playing to our players strengths. @PFF_Dalton nailed it.

Also, after dropping to 1-2 following a horrific 30-0 loss to the Carolina Panthers, it seems clear that the 2025 Falcons aren’t ready for prime time. However, with Michael Penix Jr., Bijan Robinson, and Drake London on offense and James Pearce Jr. and Jalon Walker on defense, all 25 and under, the team should punt on this season and pick up more draft assets.
Tyler Allgeier, Kyle Pitts, David Onyemata, Leonard Floyd, and Kaden Elliss are all free agents after the season, and the latter three are on the wrong side of 30, so they don’t necessarily fit Atlanta’s timeline as well as they would for a contender.
New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are the worst team in the NFL this season, and if they didn’t have four games left against the Falcons and Panthers, you might think finding a win this season would be tough.
This should be an ‘everything must go fire’ sale in New Orleans, even if that means sending out bug names like Chris Olave, Alvin Kamara, Cameron Jordan, or Demario Davis. If the price is right, the Saints should listen.
Offensive line is the sneaky area where they could make the most in return. The offense sports a decent O-line, and other than Kelvin Banks Jr. and Taliese Fuaga, who are 21 and 23, respectively, everyone else should be on the block.
Las Vegas Raiders
The 2025 Las Vegas Raiders are the same old Raiders we’ve seen for years. They have a decent amount of talent, but they just can’t get it together for whatever reason. If things keep going downhill, Tom Brady may think about making some changes.
Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is the most likely trade candidate. He has started the season well and wants a new contract extension that the Raiders don’t seem willing to give him.
Also, keep an eye on 2024 second-round pick Jackson Powers-Johnson. The C/G is only 22 and would help teams in the short and long term. However, he didn’t play at all in the team’s Week 3 loss and seems to be at odds with Vegas’ offensive line coach, Brennan Carroll, who (you guessed it), is Pete Carroll’s son.
Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow going down for up to three months has changed the math for the Cincinnati Bengals this season. After shelling out massive money for the QB, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tee Higgins in recent offseasons, the cap is getting tight in Ohio.
After giving Trey Hendrickson a one-year deal to end his holdout, it may now be the time to trade the premier pass rusher. The team could make some other moves around the edges to load up on picks for next year when Burrow gets back to full strength, but Hendrickson is the big-ticket item.
Buyers:
Kansas City Chiefs
This may be the most straightforward call on this list, as the Kansas City Chiefs are firmly in the Super Bowl loss hangover zone after starting the 2025 campaign 1-2. Yes, they will get Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy back in the coming weeks, but they could still use more pass-catching weapons.
More urgently, the team desperately needs an upgrade at running back. Kareem Hunt is past his prime, and Isaiah Pacheco has seemingly fallen off even worse than his older counterpart.
If KC can upgrade the pieces around Patrick Mahomes, he and Andy Reid have enough juice to rebound from the tough start.
Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers finally look ready to fulfill the promise the roster has hinted at for several years. The quarterback has taken a significant step forward and looks ready to challenge Burrow, Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen.
The team has started 3-0, but injuries are already taking their toll. Running back Najee Harris is out for the season, and Khalil Mack, 34, is already missing time. A backup running back to complement rookie Omarion Hampton and another pass rusher are the two most significant needs right now as the team goes all in for its first AFC West title since 2009, and maybe more after that.
Pittsburgh Steelers
When you run out a 41-year-old quarterback, you must go all in on the season ahead. That’s where the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in 2025, with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. Winning two out of their first three was a good start, but now the Steelers need to find out how to upgrade their team as the season progresses.
Like most contenders, the main spots needing a talent infusion are obvious and familiar. The team could use more offensive weapons, especially at the running back position, and another pass rusher, with Alex Highsmith already banged up.
Since Rodgers’ tenure could also signal that the Mike Tomlin era is concluding, the Steelers should do everything to go for it all ahead of the 2025 NFL trade deadline.
Buffalo Bills
Brandon Beane has never been shy about bringing in players midseason to try to improve the roster for the stretch run. At the 2023 deadline, the Buffalo Bills added cornerback Rasul Douglas, and in 2024, it was wide receiver Amari Cooper.
In 2025, the offense should be set, barring injury, but the defense could still use an upgrade at several key spots. Run-stuffing defensive linemen could help, although Michael Hoecht and Larry Ogunjobi, coming back from their PED suspensions, could also help there. What the D truly needs is high-end defensive backs, either at corner or safety, to help shore up the backend of that defense.
The stars seem to be aligning for Josh Allen and company to finally reach that elusive Super Bowl, so making in-season moves should be a no-brainer.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The three wins haven’t always been pretty, but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are still one of the league’s six undefeated teams, and that’s what matters.
What also matters to the Bucs, though, is injuries. Superstar WR Mike Evans, WR Chris Godwin, OT Tristan Wirfs, DT Calijah Kancey, and G Cody Mauch have or will miss time with injuries, and the last two are officially out for the season. So, trying to replace or supplement any of these position groups would make a lot of sense for Tampa Bay.
In a weak division in the weaker of the two conferences, Baker Mayfield and company are almost guaranteed a playoff spot at this point, and if they make the right deals in the coming weeks, they could be set up for a deep postseason run.
