Alec Pierce Injury Status for Week 4

Pierce exited the Colts’ Week 3 victory over the Tennessee Titans after going up for a deep pass from quarterback Daniel Jones and landing hard in the third quarter.

On Monday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the young wideout suffered a concussion and has entered concussion protocol, leaving his Week 4 status uncertain. On Friday, Pierce was ruled out of Week 4 due to a concussion, and he is still in the protocol.

This is his third documented concussion since entering the NFL after being selected by Indianapolis in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Colts want to play it safe and have kept him sidelined for their matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

Pierce has been one of their most productive receivers this season, catching nine passes for 171 yards. Through his first three games, he’s earned a PFSN WRi grade of 83.4, the 11th highest mark among NFL wide receivers.

Pierce is one of the ultimate deep threats in the NFL, with the speed to beat defenders over the top and the body control to high-point the football and come down with contested catches. The Colts’ ability to stretch the field against the Rams’ defense will be significantly limited without Pierce.

The Colts will now turn to second-year wideout Adonai Mitchell, whom Indianapolis selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Concussions are always concerning, and this being Pierce’s third makes it even more worrisome. The Colts will undoubtedly do their due diligence next week to ensure Pierce is 100 percent ready before making a final decision on his status for Week 5.

With how well Indianapolis has played this season, they weren’t forced to rush Pierce back. As a result, he will not be in the field against the Rams this week.
